I had the opportunity to visit this beautiful and old synagogue in Riga. There is a lot of history to it, the only synagogue which was not burnt down in Latvia because it was in the heart of city’s center and they were afraid the fire would spread all over the buildings in the center of the city.😔 I was there just before Sabbath start and saw the beautifully set up Challah and wine of the table. The energy and vibe is out of this world when you first enter. I can’t tell you enough about it, i just started to tear as i entered the hall. Its a must visit place in Riga and walking distance from other landmarks. Its inside a little alleyway, make sure you...

Only visited as part of a self guided art nouveau tour of the Old Town. The interior is nicer than the exterior, Egyptian style motifs on the interior columns. I believe this is the only Riga synagogue that survived the Nazi persecution & only because burning this place down could have damaged other buildings in close proximity. Nice enough visit for 5 minutes, 3 Euro entry. WC facilities are also available down the stairs from the...

Didn't end up going inside because the man behind the desk was so rude and unwelcoming. There's a €3 suggested donation but we only had €4 between us. He frowned and bellowed that we would have to come back later with €6. Seems like the "suggested donation" is actually an entry fee. We left and decided we would not be giving our money to such a rude and unkind man. Great way to alienate people from...

A beautiful synagogue It felt very peaceful wandering around. Nice and bright with tasteful decor. It's tucked away in the old town, but worth a visit. It costs 3euros to enter the building.
