Hestia Hotel Draugi — Hotel in Riga

Stayed for 4 nights, the hotel has a policy of your room being like your own apartment unless you specifically request a room servicing by placing a card outside the door (a sustainability thing possibly). Very friendly reception staff. Don't think I ever saw the on-site restaurant open, except for it being used as the breakfast area (breakfast is decent and caters for most national preferences, could probably do with more toasting facilities and fresh fruit juice). Located in the heart of the old town, so easily available for respite from the cobbled streets or to drop off your retail therapy items. The weekend in the old town attracts a lot of 'stag do's', so there can be some noise all hours from a couple of 'open all hours bars' located at the front of the hotel from Friday afternoon through Sunday (I had an early day trip on the Sunday and upon walking out of the exit door at 07:30am I was surprised to see a rowdy beer drinking session still in full swing at the bar directly opposite, as well as some people lying in the street worse for wear). Perfectly located hotel only a few steps away from the old town. It is in nice condition, service is kind and attentive. We had a superior room on the 1st floor facing the side street. It was spacious and super clean. Breakfast was included which they served in a restaurant they have direct connection with. Selection is alright you can definitely find yourself something you like. Qualitywise it is fine as well. We were able to store our bags in the luggage room after checkout, which was a big help. The only drawback I need to mention, is that there is a bar close to the hotel which is open until 6 AM and plays music very loudly. In our it took only 30 minutes between 0:30-1:00 AM, but still it might disturb other guests. They have provided earplugs but not everyone can sleep in those so it is not the perfect solution. Stay - July 13, 2015 Location - perfect, heart of Old Riga, all "must-see" places are in walking distance as well as Railway and Bus station (700 meters away). Reading the guests’ reviews I understood that the only foreseen problem during the stay was the noisy neighborhood, but due to double windows the noise didn't cause much inconvenience (air-conditioning and earmuffs were also available) notwithstanding the room windows were looking at Rock Cafe (karaoke all night). Staff - friendly and competent. Room - clean and cozy, safe, electric teakettle, cups, tea bags, minibar available. Cleanliness - very good, no complaints. Wifi - stable. Smoking room available on 2nd floor, adjacent to the Conference Hall. Breakfast - wide choice of tasty meals, many non-visitors to the hotel had breakfast there.
