I was somewhat disappointed by my visit. The menu and the prices indicated that the place gravitates towards the fine dining side of things, but the execution was short of perfection. As I had a snack earlier in the day, I only ordered the main course, choosing entrecote with blanched asparagus. When my plate was brought to me, I was pleasantly surprised at first. I tend to enjoy simple presentation, and this was just perfect: a juicy piece of meat sitting on top of brilliant green asparagus, with just a dash of sauce on top. This kind of approach, however, demands that everything on the plate be perfect, as there's, figuratively speaking, no place to conceal any flaws in cooking.
My plate approached that high standard, but didn't quite reach it. The meat was very good, and the sauce was quite apropos. The asparagus wasn't quite there, though. The tops were nice, with a pleasant crunch and a lot of flavour, but the rest was, in my opinion, plainly overcooked. The bottom parts lost all colour, and were quite mushy. I would still rate it as a pleasant meal overall, but it's sad that this was so close to being perfect.
The prices at Koya are on a medium-high level (expect to spend around 30 to 40 EUR per person on a full meal), and serving times are on the long-ish side. The location is quite nice, with a view of the river, and the semi-open terrace is very pleasant on a...
Read moreI don't understand where these positive reviews are coming from. The place is quite expensive (well, the cocktails are more expensive than in Old Town) but it does not match the overall level at all. The service is non-existent: you are simply being ignored. I'm not asking for something unrealistic: at least you could say "please", "thank you", or "goodbye, come again".
We visited on Saturday, at about 6pm. Only 1/3 of the tables were occupied but we waited for like 10 minutes to make an order. Then it took 20 minutes to bring us 2 cocktails. And 10 minutes more to bring food (1 rizotto, 1 tomato soup). Of course, no one asked whether we'd like another cocktail or a desert, or anything really. Then we asked for a check and waited 10 minutes more to no avail. Had to ask again... The food and cocktails were okay but absolutely nothing special. The portions are rather small. All in all, this is the worst place I've visited for the past 6 months. You guys have to do...
Read moreThe bill is 160€🤯 We took 6 oysters, they were not very tasty. Salad with slow cooked salmon, for 3. Pasta with salmon and fish (can't remember) was delicious. 2 aperols are not very good, dessert: urine, defrosted, the children ate with a bang and another dessert in a glass, where the plate was filled with mango sauce, well, somehow not very careful not to get smeared. In general, the atmosphere is good, the food is 3+, the waiter is good, he served quickly, and by the way, if more than two people are sitting at your table, then everyone needs to bring food at the same time, otherwise they brought one, while others are waiting. Restaurant for 1 time per...
