A beautiful, historic building with the most stunning staircase in a beautiful area of Riga. Alberta Iela is a must if you love Art Nouveau architecture. However, I've only given three stars as the staff were not very friendly. The museum advertises interaction of people dressed in typical Art Nouveau dress; however, they either totally ignored us and walked away when we entered the rooms or continued their private conversations. The lady on reception, where you buy your entry tickets, was quite abrupt and we had to ask where to go as she didn't offer any direction. We were very disappointed as we'd expected a more friendly and educational experience. The literature that was advertised on the website wasn't available and we'd intended starting here with our plans for an Art Nouveau tour. A shame as the building itself is lovely, it just needs to be brought alive by welcoming & interested staff. Make sure that you walk up the staircase which is outside of the museum reception. You pay €2 extra to be able to take photos. There are clean toilets but no coffee shop inside. There are plenty of coffee shops outside. We highly recommend The Flying Frog which serves deliciously fresh & tasty food as well as having a fabulous view of Eisenstein's Medusa building in...

Art Nouveau architecture was popular in Riga, the capital of Latvia, during the late 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century – about 40% of the buildings from this time were built in this style. I was really impressed by this little museum!
First off, the staff! Unlike the staff at most other attractions I’ve been to here in Riga, the ladies here were warm, welcoming and helpful!
This lovely museum is beautifully set up and really does reflect a bygone era. The staff are even outfitted in period costume, which adds immensely to the overall ambience of the place.
Finding the entrance to the museum is a bit of a challenge. Museum is listed as Alberta iela 12; however, the actual entrance is at #12 Strēlnieku Street.
The building is located on the corner of Alberta and Strēlnieku. Look for the dark red spire at the intersection.
Check out its website, which is very informative re opening hours and ticket prices. Info available in both Latvian and English.
