An Authentic Taste of Mexico in Lithuania: A Must-Visit! My friend and I stumbled upon this gem one evening, conveniently located within walking distance of our parking spot. We quickly checked in at the main dining area, nestled cozily in the basement, before heading up to the vibrant terrace. From the moment we sat down, the service was prompt, incredibly friendly, and attentive to our every need – a truly refreshing experience! Our culinary journey began with some absolutely delicious main courses. I savored a flavorful burrito, while my friend indulged in a sizzling portion of fajitas. Both dishes were bursting with authentic Mexican flavors, perfectly complemented by our drinks. We even decided to order some extra snacks afterwards because everything was just so good! There was a minor mix-up with the fajitas – they arrived with beef instead of the chicken I had ordered. However, it was so delicious that I happily ate it anyway! When I mentioned it to our server, she confirmed that she had even entered it correctly into the order terminal, showing it was a kitchen oversight. What truly impressed us was what happened next: after we finished our meal, the chef himself came out to personally apologize. He engaged us in a delightful conversation, sharing his passion for authentic Mexican cuisine. It turns out he's the owner and, along with two other Mexican chefs, runs what he proudly claims is the only truly authentic Mexican restaurant in Lithuania! He even boasts an astounding collection of around 160 tequilas! He graciously offered to treat us to a tasting, which we, unfortunately, had to decline as we were driving. Despite the small hiccup, this was an incredibly memorable visit. The genuine warmth of the staff, the exceptional food, and the chef's dedication to authenticity truly made this restaurant stand out. I would, without a doubt, return here every...
Read moreMy friend and I had been meaning to visit Agave for some time, and we recently managed to get a table there. It is a cosy restaurant that feels like authentic Mexico. We spent a bit of time looking at the menu while sipping cool Margaritas before settling on what we wanted. The service was attentive and the waitress made us feel right at home.
I started with Tocas Yucateos which were freshly made and tasted amazing. I love Mayan style pit pork! My friend had Choriqueso which came sizzling and featured his favourite sausage – chorizo. This was just the beginning of an amazing meal of taste sensations.
The mains came shortly afterwards and they looked just as good as the starters. I went for the fresh shrimp in a chipotle sauce and every mouthful was fantastic. I recommend this when you go to Agave. My friend is also a seafood lover and decided to that the shrimp, scallop and octopus trio would sate his appetite for all things seafood. Of course, it also featured chorizo, so he was doubly happy. These are plates of food prepared by someone who really knows how to cook. They were fresh and vibrant, with some great flavour combinations going on.
We’d eaten and drank well to that point so shared a dessert of caramel with nuts and a slice of lime. This goes really well after a meal and the sweetness helps you feel happy as you leave. The food and drinks are wonderful and I suggest that you get to Agave the next time you...
Read moreWe've been loyal customers at Agave every time we visit Kaunas for over four years. Sadly, after two consecutive visits with rude service, we’ve decided not to return. It’s a real disappointment, especially since Agave was once our favorite, and we’ve spent a significant amount of money hosting celebrations and gatherings with family and friends there over the years.
Tonight marked our final visit. We ordered our usual cactus and chorizo mixed quesadillas, a dish we've always enjoyed as an appetizer. However, the waiter bluntly informed us that it was no longer possible to order them mixed, insisting we could only choose one ingredient. When we explained that we had ordered this way numerous times before, he didn’t bother to check with the kitchen. Instead, he rudely dismissed our request outright, refusing to even ask if it could be accommodated.
We've frequently recommended Agave to friends, but recently, two of them reported similar experiences with poor service, which was shocking given the owner’s reputation for warmth and hospitality. It’s truly unfortunate that such unprofessional and unwelcoming staff are tarnishing what was once an incredible...
