Piękny park, zaskakująco czysto wszędzie ,toaleta w parku przy placu zabaw bezpłatna.
Niezwykła miejsce złączenia się 2 rzek. Niemen czysty i wspaniały, Willa podobna.
Warto przyjechać i zobaczyć.

Bardzo zadbane miejsce. Historyczna pamiątka ze względu na fragmenty zamku z XIV w. W parku dużo możliwości aktywnego wypoczynku dla dorosłych, dla młodzieży i dla dzieci. Warto przyjechać do Kowna. Czyje się Litwę, która odradza die z sowieckiego i ruskiego miru XX w.

During my recent visit to the renewed Kaunas Zoo, I found myself thoroughly enchanted by the thoughtful improvements made to the facility. The inside terrariums, in particular, stood out as a highlight of the entire experience. These enclosures were not only aesthetically pleasing but also provided an immersive journey through diverse ecosystems.
The attention to detail inside the terrariums was evident, with each habitat carefully designed to mimic the natural environment of the inhabitants. It was a treat to witness various species coexisting harmoniously, and the educational signage added depth to the overall experience, offering insights into the behaviors and adaptations of the animals.
One aspect that truly stole the spotlight for me was the monkey exhibit. The primates displayed a remarkable range of behaviors, from their playful antics to their more contemplative moments. It was evident that the zookeepers had gone to great lengths to create an environment that allowed these creatures to express their natural behaviors, and the result was a captivating spectacle that left a lasting impression.
Moreover, the overall ambiance of the zoo was welcoming and well-maintained. The pathways were clean, and the landscaping added a touch of tranquility to the surroundings. The staff, too, appeared knowledgeable and passionate about the animals under their care, providing valuable information and answering questions with enthusiasm.
In conclusion, the renewed Kaunas Zoo exceeded my expectations. The inside terrariums offered a fascinating journey through different ecosystems, and the monkeys, with their charming personalities, added a layer of excitement to the visit. It's clear that the efforts put into the renovation have paid off, creating a more enriching and enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages.

Visited the zoo on the Easter Holiday and it was very busy. The parking lot was completely full, so I had to find street parking a little ways away.
There was a long queue to buy tickets, so I recommend purchasing them in advance on the zoo’s website. This may have been due to the holiday and what turned out to be amazing Lithuanian weather.
Despite some of the negative reviews I read about this zoo, I found the animal exhibits to be in wonderful condition. It was apparent the animals were well fed, cared for, and provided with appropriate enrichment items.
The indoor Ecotarium building was very nice, with a one way route that allowed viewing of the species living inside. It did not appear the animals had access to their outdoor spaces that day, but could possibly be due to holiday staffing.
As a note, Kaunas Zoo is a candidate for membership to EAZA, which means they have made significant strides to meet all of the EAZA’s animal care/conservation standards.
TL;DR - take a visit, it’s well worth it. Only one hour from Vilnius as well.

This used to be one of the worst zoos, or maybe actually a prison for animals. After the renovation, it has become so nice and tidy and actually feels bigger than it actually is. They improved the animal habitats so much and even built new homes and introduced few new species. Compared to other zoos, this still is a lacking and expensive zoo, but I will give it five stars because the zoo did such a great job.
Most animals were not seen and were inside for all the time.
The egzotarium is an amazing new building housing desert animals and fish, and it is the best thing about this zoo.
I found many animals missing from before the renovation, for example, seals.
There is no aquarium, or at least no significant sea animal section. I think this zoo lacks land and is positioned on very weird landscape, but it has used its land well.

Lithuanina Zoo is really nice place to visit ant it is after renovation now. Our family enjoyed the time in zoo.
There are not only different animals (outside, inside the buildings, but also a lot of activities for different age of children (interactive space inside, children playground, cafe and even painting exhibition etc.). Our little one especially enjoyed exotarium - I liked it a lot myself! Exotic animals (iguanas, snakes, fishes, turtles etc.) are so close and easy to see their activities 🙂
The staff of zoo is very kind and helpf and seems that they love animals very much 🙂
Highly recommend to visit Lithuanian Zoo!
You have to think about where you will park your car from the start of the school year. It can be crowded.

We had an amazing time over here at the zoo.
It was not so crowded at the time we went. The zoo is located behind Kaunas University of Technology.
The zoo is open from 9 am to 7 pm in summer and from 9 am to 5 pm in winters depending on the weather.
The last time to buy the ticket and enter the zoo is 2 hours before the closure of the zoo.
The zoo hosts a variety of species which live in the Arctic area.
There are many types of cats, birds and there are African lions also.
You can typically spend about 2-3 hours at the zoo.
Have a good time when you visit.

Original Kaunas castle was built in mid 14-th century, and became one of the main objects of attacks of Crusareds. As a guide I must tell you these were technologically highly advance medieval knights, that included personalities like Henry Bolingbroke and later King Henry IV. Though majority of attackers were Germans. The most blody battle ensued before Easter 1362, when almost all crew of Vaidotas, son of Duke Kęstutis were killed. After Žalgiris (Grunewald) battle, the castle lost its importance. It was abandoned for ages, only in Soviet Lithuani the main tower was refurbished, and it underwent the major exploration and restoration already in Inpendent Lithuania of 21st century. Today it hosts concerts, history festivals and many festive events each spring and summer // Kauno pilis pirmą kartą minima XIV amžiaus viduryje, daugiausiai dėl nelaimingos Kęstučio sūnaus Vaidoto vadovaujamos įgulos žūties 1361 metais. Iš 300 karių liko keliolika. Po kurio laiko lietuviai pilį atsiėmė, tačiau po Žalgirio mūšio ji neteko strateginės vertės. Kauniečiai čia augino daržoves, aplinkui kūrėsi žydų kvartalas, o iki XX a. dabartiniai grioviai buvo užversti. Pilis pradėta gaivinti ir muziejinti dar Tarybų Lietuvoje, tačiau restauracija ir renovacija ypač išsiplėtė pastaraisiais dešimtmečiais, kai čia vyksta daug koncertų, švenčių, istorijos festivalių – tame tarpe, Kauno gimtadienis ir Hanza dienos gegužės pabaigoje.

The castle at the confluence of the Nemunas and Neris rivers was built in the 14th century to defend against the onslaught of crusaders. This is not only one of the first stone castles in Lithuania, but also the only one that has two rows of defensive walls. A settlement that grew into the current city was created around the Gothic defences. Kaunas castle first mentioned in written sources in 1361. According to legend, Queen Bona Sforza’s troops mysteriously disappeared in the tunnels underneath. Although it was restored multiple times, the castle lost its importance in 1408 when Kaunas was granted Magdeburg rights and the life of the whole city moved to the Market (Town Hall) Square. The castle was home to a prison in the 16th century and the souls of the prison’s inmates have not found peace to this very day, haunting the castle still by night. At present, the castle is a Kaunas city museum branch and annual cultural events are held in and around it.

Smaller Castle with great surroundings.
Only went to the outside of the castle and not the actual inside with museum. But I would still recommend just to see the outside and the surrounding park.
Since you have the Santakos park just right by and also the old city in close proximity.
You have very good views if you climb the castle stairs since you can go up there separately from the inside portion that's paid (3€ normal ticket and 1,5€ reduced)
If you're traveling by car you also have big paid parking very close.

Kaunas Castle is a calling card of the city) This castle is even older, but only a fourth of the original building remains. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times. After the Battle of Grunwald, Kaunas Castle lost its strategic military importance and was used as a residence.
Today the Castle is a must-see attraction for everyone who visit Kaunas. It looks well-kept but there's no interesting exhibitions inside. But still you can took a photo in front of the castle or have a nice walk in a picturesque place.

This is within walking distance from our hotel, the Best Western on the pedestrian promenade, so we went to check it out. Such old and rich history!
We learned a lot about the early Lithuanians. They restored this old castle and made a great display as well as a nice walkway and park surrounding the structure.
We learned about The Beast of Kaunas! They found his tooth and his resting place. I captured a video of him snoring. Turn your sound up!
