Old House Cafe — Restaurant in Ampang Jaya Municipal Council

Very disappointing experience. don’t recommend this café.

I usually enjoy finding dog-friendly cafés where I can bring my furkid and relax with my husband on weekends. Unfortunately, my experience here was really disappointing. My Maxis line was slow, so I asked the counter staff for the WiFi password. After trying several times without success, I went back and requested him to key it in, just in case I had typed it wrongly. Instead of helping politely, his expression clearly showed annoyance. Even when he tried himself, he also couldn’t connect. When I told him the password seemed incorrect, he suddenly raised his voice, insisting he wasn’t lying, with an angry look. That reaction alone spoiled the whole experience for me. *As for the food, despite all the glowing reviews, it honestly wasn’t nice at all, and the prices were quite steep. I really don’t understand how they received top gourmet awards and such high ratings. On top of that, I noticed all the staff were non-local, which gave the place a rather disconnected feel.

Went here to try their Signature Lamb Hotpot during Sunday dinner, taste is fine.

However, would like the owner to take note on this: Written in menu Free Soup Refill but when we asked for refill, waitress said soup finished and this wasn't informed earlier. It was not crowded and it is surprising that the soup finished that fast.

We cancelled the vege order as there is no soup left. The waitress explained further - although it writes in menu but the free refill was not displayed in QR ordering, hence they are unable to provide the soup refill.

This explanation raised another question - was the soup really finished or the shop refused to honor the soup refill as written?

Appreciate if the owner could look into this as it is deceiving. Taste is good but there won't be a...

I had a wonderful time at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Every dish we tried was a hit, and I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu.
