I’m very disappointed with my experience at this place. The lady at the counter was unfriendly from the start. I initially wanted to order the Bagel (Guacamole), but she charged me an extra RM2-3 without informing or asking me beforehand. When I questioned her about it, she responded with a sour expression, saying, “No plain bagel. Only left sesame bagel.”
Then I decided to change my order to the special chicken wholesale sandwich. As I sat and watched her prepare the food, what I saw was extremely concerning. She placed cling wrap directly into the toaster. The bread was toasted until it became excessively dark as you can see from the picture. What worried me even more is that over-toasted bread can produce acrylamide, a potentially harmful compound that forms when starchy foods are cooked at high temperatures for too long. Consuming acrylamide regularly may increase the risk of health issues, including cancer.
What truly alarmed me, though, was when she put the mashed potato still in its plastic container directly into the microwave. The container was labeled “PP5,” but it had no microwave-safe symbol. While PP5 is generally considered microwave-safe, containers without the proper symbol may not have been tested or certified for microwave use. This can pose health risks, and as a result, I couldn’t even take a bite. I ended up throwing the food away.
It’s disappointing to witness such careless food preparation. The food might look healthy on the surface, but the handling practices here make me question its safety. I urge management to take these concerns seriously. Customers come expecting a healthy meal, not something that could jeopardize their...
Read moreThis review is based on what we ordered on the day we visited. We ordered the keto burger with cheese and butter, the fire cheese cake and 2 types of fruit juices. This review is on the food.
By definition according to the Oxford languages dictionary, a burger is "a dish consisting of a flat round cake of minced beef, or sometimes another savoury ingredient, that is fried or grilled and served in a split bun or roll with various condiments and toppings". THIS burger was a slice of processed cheddar cheese and a few leaves of lettuce between 2 pieces of buttered warm keto buns. There is nothing fried/grilled (although the cheese is savoury) in this burger. Maybe I'm the simpleton here and should have taken the menu literally rather than the broader fact that a burger is what it is - meaty and grilled. The saving grace was that the keto buns were fluffy and filling, a good keto bun despite the heaviness of the psyllium husk, coconut flour etc. I rather liked the buns on their own.
I don't know what the "fire" is in the fire cheese cake but i suspect it's the fact that the cake was warmed up in the oven and given a nice cheesy crust when served. On the whole, the cake was light and the crusty grated cheese topping gave it a different texture.
There are a lot of other items on the menu which initially interested me.
The above is the writer's personal opinion and is based on the food items ordered on the day. Taste preferences will differ...
Read moreI have to admit that I had low expectations for this place but we were in a hurry and I thought this place could serve us quickly. The food was very tasty. My wife had the veggie rice bowl and I had a burger. Both dishes were top notch. With that said, they seem understaffed, which makes the workers tense, reflected most in their interaction with each other, but also they forgot to put the eggs in my wife's dish. The atmosphere was also a bit tense feeling....
Update: I remain vexed about how I should rate Avocbar. The food warrants a 5. It's tasty and fresh. However, the workers need to be more concerned about QC. On each occasion (4 times), the servers have forgotten ingredients (except this last time). This most recent visit, they remembered everything, so QC is getting better or so I thought. Midway through our meal a female employee enters the restaurant and starts chatting with other employees in the food preparation area. That was OK, but a minute or so later, she produces a fried chicken leg and starts wolfing the thing down while chatting with other employees. Customers don't want to see someone gobbling down food in the open food preparation area. If she's hungry, she can eat in the back room or even in the dining area. That was disgusting!
So food is still 5, but QC is 2. (Politeness level was fine, but manners...
