Mom's Laksa — Restaurant in Borneo

​Date of Visit: 5 October 2025 at approximately 3:40 PM (2 adults).

​The Ayam Gepuk we ordered was delicious and good. I must specifically praise one staff member, a lady without a headscarf who delivered our food for providing excellent and professional service.

​However, the overall customer service was extremely poor and disappointing.

​The attitude of most staff (including the ladies with headscarves and the men) was unfriendly and judgmental. We felt ignored and treated unfairly. Staff took our order slowly and did not give us a menu, despite available menus being empty at the self-service area. This was highlighted when the customers who arrived later and sat right next to us were attended to immediately and given better service. We believe this disparity in service happened because of our casual attire.

​Furthermore, our order was wrong twice. I requested Ayam Gepuk but received Ayam Penyet both times. When we highlighted the second mistake, the staff look like dont believe us, despite us having already settled the bill in full at the counter. Adding to this frustration, our payment receipt clearly showed 'Ayam Gepuk', not 'Ayam Penyet', confirming the mistake was on their part.

​It was also frustrating to observe staff gathering at the counter, seemingly ignoring customers.

​The terrible service completely ruined the experience, despite the good food. Due to this unacceptable service, we will not be returning and not recommend this...

VERY POOR SERVICE! There were no available tables as it was raining and the staffs were just ignoring me.

Once u get a table you have to go inside to the counter to order. After paying, when i got back to my table, there was someone else seated in my place. At this point, the staff is still ignoring things, and i had to apologise showing them my receipt and table number.

At the counter, i had to wait for about few minutes before i could pay because the cashier was keying in a long list of orders from food panda. Like seriously? You are well established but dont want to upgrade your people and process?

Some staffs are just chatting in a corner, no idea why so poor in management

Overall super bad service, i usually dont do reviews but i went to this place despite reading bad reviews about the place and now i experienced it myself, hahaha.

Dear Moms Kitchen, your staffs are sooooo darnnn lazy and your service sucks!

If you're looking to indulge in authentic Sarawakian cuisine, The Mom's Laksa is a must-visit!

As overall, the food is 5/5, service was very bad 1/5, no spoon, forks and tissue given to us. During order, they didn't repeat what we are ordering thus they mistaken the amount 1 pax to 4 pax. This is very bad for a cashier service.

Here’s a taste of what you can expect: Mee Belacan - A rare dish that’s hard to find elsewhere. It's a solid 5/5 and considered the best by many who’ve tried it.

Mee Kolok Special - This dish features juicy, tender meat paired with an amazing broth. The flavors meld perfectly, making it a delightful choice.

Laksa Sarawak - A true representation of local flavors, with a rich curry taste that hits all the right notes. It’s a definite 5/5!

Varieties of Desserts - Don’t miss out on the tarts; they are incredibly delicious and a perfect end to your meal, also rated 5/5!

Teh C Special - The tea here strikes a perfect balance between sweet and bitter, making it a refreshing drink that also scores a 5/5!
