This is an old restaurant selling authentic hokkien dishes. No menu in the restaurant, we just order based on what is recommended by the man who took our order. The famous dishes include fried tang hun (glass noodles), oyster noodles, oo jian (oyster omelette), the prawn fritters, tofu with leek, pork soup, I like the fried tang hun, oyster noodles and oo jian very much. Oysters are very fresh, though a bit small, but they are juicy and full of flavour. The oyster noodles also come with some cuts of fish, no fishy taste, very nice. The smell of wok is spot on. Restaurant has air conditioning, the old school interior is kinda nice ambiance. They open at 6pm, by 6.30pm the crowd starts to fill up all the seats. The service is moderate. Waiting time is up to 30mins per table. Price is otherwise reasonable. Food...
Read moreWe wandered over here as it was close to where we are staying at Sandiland Condos and just looking for a place to eat. I was a bit put off at first when we went in because they did not have a menu, but the waitress seemed friendly enough so we tried it. We asked what dishes they have and communications were a bit rough, but we managed to order oyster noodles, an oyster omelette, some kang kong, rice, a few beers and an ice tea. Everything was great. The kang kong was a bit spicy for my wife, but the rest was good. Really loved the flavors and textures. I have had oyster omelettes at several place in Penang over the years, but this was by far the best. I would highly recommend the place and will definitely go back. Total for our meal and drinks was 62 MYR which was...
Read moreI was treated to a lunch at this old school family run hokkien restaurant. I was told they have been in business in access of 3 generations. Although with door shut it was air conditioned but their air-con needed more horse power & was fighting a loosing battle againt the outside 33°C heat. The place appears a little run down in need of updating the walls & furniture. The servers attire could need more professional looks but is offset when we tasted the delicious food. 4 dishes. Omelette oyster aka Oh Chean, sambal udang betai, crunchy deep fried bite sized chicken in a pickled onion cucumber dressing & a thick seafood broth soup. Each of us drowned the hatch in an order of pot of soothing ...
