Foreigner pay RM93 for Day Fun Pass, entitled u to enter 14 zone. We have our lunch at Marybrown. Ticket counter at level 5. There’s Japan Food Street. Only Mee,local noodles.
Day Fun Pass-14 zones Rainbow SkyWalk-level 6 is at level 68. After level 65-Observatory Deck. Guide from internal lift. Have to wear a disposable food cover in order to step into it. Because of previous experience so have the courage to move my first step. Actually,is not as scary as Observatory Deck. There’s a rainbow fountain with gold pot for fortune. A luckiest chair in gold colour-swing chair. Have to go through a security check before enter. If rain, this activity will be cancelled. There will be rainbow light during night visit.
Observatory Deck enter through level 6 then take lift from internal lift straight up to level 65. Is an aircon enclosure area where there’s a small part of glass floor for you to experience. Is scary to take the first step out. To get a beautiful photo is to sit and half lay on the glass floor. The person who take photo for u,have to take from height angle. This angle can make u look slim.
Jurassic Research Center-level 5. There’s a laboratory for dinosaurs. The reserver even carry out a baby dinosaur and introduced how big,it will be for how many years old n what it consumed. After that there’s a video playing while we are trapped inside a ‘lift’ to encounter being attacked by a dinosaur. After that there’s live size dinosaurs.
7D Discovery Motion Theatre-level 5,approximately 1hr interval per show time. When enter take a 3D glasses. And my suggestion is to sit on the highest rows because like us we sit 4th row from the bottom n we look to keep our head up in order to have a great view. There’s ‘punch’ at our back from our seat, water spraying out.
Tech Done Penang-level 5. Is like Science center. Is fun as many activities for u to play n understand from science.
Dino Gym-level 5,right exit of Dinosaur Research Center and kids will love it.
Musical Carousel level 5,close for maintenance.
Ocean Explorer level 5. Look of its exhibit is yellow submarine, every 15mins interval. Our seats is a submarine model. Can experience attacked by shark, there are dolphins n whale.
Magic Mirror Maze level 5,don’t know located at where but there are magic mirrors along the walkway to Tech Dome Penang. Normal mirror, mirror that make u look fat/slim/long legs,we like it very much as make our legs look so so slim n long.
Dance Oki level 5,under maintenance
UFOX level 5,we missed it
Jelly Bump level 4-kids playground
Penang State Gallery level 3. History of Penang,Penang Street Food,Transportation of past history, model of 2nd bridge of Penang.
Durian King of Fruit Museum level 3,durian tree, growth of durian.
Brought nougat at the souvenir shop. RM27 for 230g ,60g RM13. There are almond, cranberry, green tea, milk.
Overall experience is fun n is a great indoor activity and need at least 4-5hrs to explore...
Read moreKomtar was used to be the Penang's Iconic place to visit about 20+ years ago. Good effort in converting a dying and abandon tower to attract the crowd!
A combo ticket cost RM78 for Malaysian Adult & RM48 for Malaysian kid (RM98 Non-Malaysian Adult) will allow you to have multi-entry for Avenue of Adventures and Window of the Top in a day. You may not need multi entries for most of attraction points but if you bring kids, multi entries is definitely worth, eg. bumper cars.
Do take a quick visit too at 100 meters Penang State Gallery and Durian The King of Fruits since already included in the package.
As the Window of the Top open at 10am & close at 10pm, my personal opinion is to avoid sun burnt at noon time and best time to visit at about 6.30pm to see the sunset and night view. So, finish all the attractions at AoA 1st and save the best to the last, of course depends on the weather too, raining day this 68th floor outdoor top viewing - Rainbow Skywalk will be closed for visiting. Aquarium at 4/5th floor (cannot remember exact which floor) is opening soon while 65th floor is under renovation, so the indoor top viewing is no longer available.
Staff are very friendly there, can prompt them if any question or direction of attraction needed. Toilets and food/drink easy to find. If you drive car, u can park at the car park located opposite the Pos Office of Komtar, try to drive up to 6th floor then u are steps away to the entrance of Top.
"Kid" with height above 130cm is considered Adult and is required to pay adult ticket. Measurement is always there prior selling the ticket. So, don't be surprise if your kid is only 130cm. Price is not standardized, eg same type of small drinking water can be ranging from RM1.50 - 3.00. My suggestion is to spare or buy from Penang Central Market where you can find cheaper food and drink here vs inside, better still if you can bring your own one from home. Do not expect this place is as great as Universal Studio or Disneyland or those days Genting theme park. I may not spend 2nd visit as the attractions are not really as great and as worth to pay for the ticket and time spent. Visiting the 1st time as brought the kid and gave the support as Penangese. The whole duration spent for 1st visit with 2 kids & 2 adults was 9 hours, with 1hour+ at bumper car...
Read moreWe visited The Top Penang during our trip to George Town, and it turned out to be a fun and memorable experience for all ages. Located inside the Komtar Tower—the tallest building in Penang—it’s a modern attraction packed with different activities, restaurants, and observation decks that showcase Penang from above.
The main highlight is, of course, the Rainbow Skywalk on the 68th floor. Walking on the glass bridge with the city skyline beneath your feet is both thrilling and unforgettable. The views are simply breathtaking—you can see George Town, Penang Bridge, and even parts of the mainland on a clear day. Sunset and nighttime visits are especially magical, with the city lights creating a beautiful panorama. For those who prefer something less daring, the indoor Observatory Deck on the 65th floor still offers fantastic views in a more relaxed setting.
Besides the observation decks, The Top has a wide variety of attractions. Families with kids will enjoy places like the Jurassic Research Center, Tech Dome, and 7D Discovery Motion Theater. There are also fun photo spots and interactive exhibits that keep the experience engaging. For couples or groups of friends, the rooftop bar and dining options provide a great place to relax with a view.
The facility is clean, modern, and well-maintained, though it’s good to note that ticket prices can feel a bit on the higher side, especially if you want to access multiple attractions. However, the overall experience justifies the cost if you plan to spend a few hours exploring everything.
Getting there is convenient since Komtar is centrally located in George Town, with plenty of public transport and parking nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful, making the visit smooth.
A few tips: try to time your visit around late afternoon so you can enjoy both daytime and nighttime views. Also, wear comfortable shoes since there’s some walking between different floors and attractions.
Overall, The Top is a must-visit if you’re in Penang. Whether you’re here for the Skywalk thrill, the panoramic views, or the family-friendly attractions, it offers something for everyone. It’s the best spot to see Penang from above and capture...
