"A Culinary Journey of Delight and Innovation" I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mood. and was thoroughly impressed. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance was simply delightful – a sophisticated yet incredibly comfortable setting that immediately put us at ease. It’s clear they’ve put thought into creating a space that feels both special and inviting, making it an ideal spot for a good dinner with friends and family. The dining experience here was a delightful exploration of flavors, showcasing both classic comforts and innovative twists. Each dish presented a unique character, leaving a lasting impression. The Roasted Cauliflower was a revelation. Its creamy texture, derived from a special blended cauliflower, elevated a humble vegetable into a luxurious starter. It was a testament to how simple ingredients, expertly prepared, can achieve extraordinary results. The Chicken Breast was a masterclass in tenderness. The chicken was incredibly succulent and perfectly complemented by a vibrant Thai basil sauce that added a fragrant and savory kick without overpowering the delicate meat. For seafood lovers, the Grilled Squid is a must-try. It surprised with a distinctive laksa taste with sweet and tangy pickled lotus root that was both aromatic and flavorful. This unique interpretation of a classic Asian profile was a refreshing change. The Chilli Crab, despite its seemingly simple presentation, proved to be a flavor powerhouse. The mantao (buns) were the perfect vehicle to soak up the rich, savory chili crab, and the accompanying pickled red onions cut through the richness beautifully, adding a welcome tang. The Pure South Lamb Cutlets were truly exceptional. The meat was remarkably juicy and tender, cooked to perfection. The accompanying broccoli and green pea puree was an amazing addition, providing a fresh, sweet counterpoint that enhanced the natural flavors of the lamb. To conclude, the Dark Chocolate Tart was the ideal grand finale. The rich, dark chocolate was expertly balanced, not overly sweet, and the unique addition of gula apong ice cream on top provided a delightful local twist, ending the meal on a perfectly sweet and memorable note. Overall, Mood. offers a fantastic array of dishes, each thoughtfully prepared with an emphasis on flavor and quality ingredients. It's a place where you can expect both familiar favorites and exciting culinary surprises. Beyond the delicious food and drinks, the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. Their genuine warmth and efficiency made our evening even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a restaurant that perfectly balances excellent cuisine, a diverse wine list, a wonderful atmosphere, and top-notch service, I wholeheartedly recommend Mood. You won't be disappointed!

So many great choices around GeorgeTown however Mood was right next to my hotel so I thought … why not … looks good .. three ‘genuine’ and recent reviews (unlike many reviews on TA these days which seem to be from 3678965onetimereviewer) .. anyhoo I popped into Mood in the afternoon to book because one thing I have learnt in Penang is …. Whilst there are a gazillion restaurants in Georgetown … the good ones book out. Arriving at the restaurant just after my reservation time there were four very loud men at the bar at the exotic the restaurant area .. the bar person barely acknowledged me .. he seemed more intent on pouring the rowdies whisky (understandable.. he will make way more money out of that than my solo dining adventure) … look I could go on and on.. they didn’t seem to know about my reservation .. I was asked twice what I would like to order before I had even been given a menu. There were four items of an interesting but very small (and rather small) menu that were not available… and on top of the loud obnoxious men at the bar … who got louder … there was a child running thru the restaurant … and my meal … good fish drowning in buttery sauce … just disappointing.

Our visit to Mood proved to be one of our best culinary experiences in Penang and for the most part, in other parts of the world too. Joseph the owner leads a very professional, friendly and welcoming team. Jimmy at the front of the bar was absolutely brilliant and extremely knowledgable as our mixologist, whilst Dev proved to be a gastronomical genius in the kitchen. Joseph’s company and chats were entertaining and uplifting, all whilst he kept a handle on the smooth dinner service. The food portions were well thought out and served in an excellent concept that allowed you to enjoy the portions without being filled up and leaving you bloated. Loved the entire evening and will be telling all our London and South African friends to make it their duty to visit Mood when they visit Penang.

Welcome by wonderful staffs at the front door, and good cocktails at the nicely decorated bar. Next, A very nice ambiance dinning area with a full view of their open kitchen, which is lead by a fantastic experienced chef Dev and his team.. we had a good dinning experience from the wine to the all the food served and the service, especially the staffs would explain the ingredients used on every dishes and a few stories about the restaurant and cuisine. Highly recommended The Cauliflower, Yam cake with coffee sauce are surprisingly great, follow by Pork belly top with Laoganma cuttle fish, Thai Laksa squid, and chilli crab muntou were equally excellent! For main courses we had Chicken & Duck, which was amazing combination of smoked duck & chicken farce in between the chicken skin and the breast meat.. very tender n juicy after a perfect grilled. Iberico pork chop was really tender and served with a home made Thai sauce and the lamb chop with mint green peas was the highlight too! Dark chocolate tart and red dates sticky pudding with rozelle sorbet were their special dessert which I would recommend as they would be worth to keep space in your stomach for it! Will definitely come back to this restaurant with some friends in the near future! Advisable to make reservation in order for you to get a nice table and a...
