The only good thing about this place was its location. But if location is truly all you care about then sleeping on the streets would be better than this place.

You can tell right from the reception area that this place is extremely run down. Apparently it used to be a bakery, but they have torn it down and left shambles, broken ceilings and dirty walls in its place. Stacks of towels and bedding just lying around. I'm sure that this is normal, but it's honestly really unsightly. And we don't know if this is washed or unwashed... The hallway for the single rooms literally has broken doors and other random things lying around, showing you that this place is still under construction, or that didn't bother removing these things from the hallway, right outside the single rooms. Honestly, the room furnishings were alright, since you get what you paid for. What was NOT acceptable was the overwhelming musty and mouldy smell. It was honestly horrible. Other than the smell, the hygiene is extremely questionable. Not one, but multiple stains on the bedding. Hair on the pillow. Add on the mouldy ceilings, ladder leading up to nowhere (I didn't even there looking at the state of the platform on top of the ladder), cobwebs literally HANGING from the ceiling, random dirty stains on the walls, and you have an unacceptable room. The toilets were bad. There was no handsome at the shared sinks, I had to walk into a shower cubicle to get body soap from a dispenser that almost fell apart when I pushed the button. At least 1 cubicle wasn't working. The cubicle that I went into at 2pm had no toilet paper, and there were no refills anywhere. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. When I came back at 10+pm, again, there was no toilet paper. Though the lady receptionist in the afternoon was very friendly and nice, the male receptionist at night was almost rude. I smiled and nodded at him on my way out, for him to just stare blankly at me. And when I decided to check out to find another decent place to stay, he literally didn't say a word as I requested for a checkout. I was going to give feedback and ask him if he could do anything to at least give me clean bedding, but after seeing his nonchalance I just gave up. I had to ask him if he was done with all the processes and whether I could leave, and he rudely told me to go. I gladly left.

Overall, I know people say that you get what you paid for. But honestly, you can get cheaper accommodations that are sanitary and safe and decently comfortable elsewhere. Or save your money and sleep on the streets instead, I'd rather do that than pay for a night's rest here.

But I do want to commend the lady receptionist for her friendliness, and for letting me check in 30 min early free of charge. She was the only thing that convinced me to give this place a chance, though I couldn't take it anymore when I actually had to sleep in the room. Also, from my limited time here, I did NOT see guests socialising (though I would expect a hostel to have some sort of social atmosphere). I did, however, see a shirtless middle-aged man scratching his back in the common area. Perhaps if the right group of guests came along, this would be a great experience (like what other guests have preciously commented). But for me, I would NOT recommend this...

House is very poorly maintained. Rooms are dusty, smelly and with poor facilities. The beds are horrible as they are broken. The springs jab you when you sleep. Air-con is so poorly maintained that i personally had to wash the filters and wipe the coils as it was too dirty causing the aircon to malfunction, thus making the room very hot.

The sheets that they provide are not clean and there are bed bugs. I personally understand that this is a budget hotel but the least the hotel could do is maintain its basic hygience and maintenance. I am not asking for anything grand, just the basic functioning ammneties. Also, you are not allowed to bring food/beverage in the room which i personally find really ridiculous!

Never have i been told that i am not allowed to bring food in the room. All the other hotels, from pretigious hotels to budget, i was always allowed to bring food as long as i clean up after myself.

The reception indian lady always makes a big fuss. This is because they so lazyly clean the room that any little extra work that they have to do, they will try to avoid. Thus, not allowing food in the rooms.

At the end of the day, regardless, they fail to clean the room even to the bare minimum as dust balls roll around in the room, everything is stained, and everything is falling apart. Please do not come here even though it is strategically located. I would suggest you stay at other hotels along this street as the extra money...

We checkout from the room 8th of September, 2022. All the way our trip we were making videos of our journey, mistakenly we forgot to take 2 of our polythene bags during checkout from room which was coloured red and blackAndWhite consists of 8 small gift handbags for family coloured white and brown beneath the mirror table in room no 15. After checkout, noone from the housekeeping or hostel told us there was something left on room. The next day morning we suddenly remember and checked all our videos to confirm, also called the reception lady for our bags because we forgot to took that. But they are constantly denying that neither housekeeping found anything or neither they saw our bags. After checkout also, we sit almost 6 hours in the reception for our work, till that time noone informed of our left belonging. My question is if you took security deposit for your belongings than you should also atleast check once of customers belongings after checkout of the room. We are still on a hope that the owner or someone from reception will connect us , because we still believe good people exists. Rest, it's bad luck if someone dumped or anyone...

Rundown place. Probably the worst I ever stayed. I tried hard to think of something that I liked but couldn’t. The atmosphere is just depressive. Perhaps it looks better upstairs (I wouldn’t know) but on the groundfloor it is depressive. Wifi only in the lobby. Everything is old and falling apart - or just falling, like the plaster ceiling in the bathroom corridor at midnight. Hopefully nobody got injured. My bedsheets had burnt holes in them. Paint is coming from the walls - because of mold? Strangely, the most pressing thing seemed to be to get a painting of Napoleon in the hallway. Auntie is nice. There is a water dispenser at the reception and shower had good pressure and temperature - don’t take that for granted in Malaysia.

I chose to stay here because of the value for money room options (it was about 20sgd for a double room shared bath) as well as the unique architectural elements of this old reconverted shop house. The moment you step into the property, a huge ancient temple gateway greets you, and crossing it, an old antique house feel with an old chain pulled elevator. Rooms are clean and big. The biggest complaint however are the shared bathrooms. Poor maintenance, with broken toilet seats, toilet paper holders and soap and shampoo dispensers. Has the potential to become a great shophouse.
