It's situated in downtown Penang, it's popular during the fifties and sixties during which there were just a couple of big stores, nowadays only few people will go there except for some outstation visitors, it's a reminder of days goneby "memories", we nowadays have many malls and shopping centres. Anyways as I said it's downtown, it's smack in the most popular area of Georgetown be it nowadays or long ago. Just beside the place is the biggest and most popular market in town,(Chowrasta Market) it derives its name from the Indian community, most of the people refers it as the Indian market from the olden days even up till now. Fronting the market is a very big building (old colonial type) which houses the Police Contingent Headquarters. We have around 5 cinemas around this area but it's all gone now, this area is still bustling with lively activity cause it's frequent by outstation visitors from other states and also there are as many many hotels at either ends of the road (Penang Road). Nighttime is a bit calm nowadays even without the lockdowns not like the olden days goneby, (yeah those were the days). The street is lined up with nice dainty shops fill with tidbits like you know bottleup seasonal plumps and netmegs and so on. Further alongside, shops offer "batik" shirts and other attire in batik also. (Batik) is a cloth which has been dip in hot water to get rid of the wax after a wax design or wax painting on the cloth. Okay, along this road just around one corner thereabouts you'll be able to get some nice things to savour, there is one hawker especially there which is so popular that you'll have to queue up for a bowl of "chendol", which is unexplainable. No way You'll have to gobble this to explain it. Anyway there are other different hawker food too. Before the lockdowns you'll have to queue up what more during holidays, Sh😂t. So come visit my hometown and experience our country and most of all we are famous for our hawker food if you are specialized in eating out. Till the next time we meet...

Read moreI had bad experience in Chowrasta Morning Market. I should say a bad experience in Penang in general !! Please take note that the market food area where you take your breakfast and especially the coffee shop will force you to purchase drink when you eat any food.( Not outside food). If you don't purchased any drink from them they force you to leave the seat. In the coffee shop, if you have 4 peoples and only 1 purchased the drink, they will force you to pay RM 2 for sitting in and even if you are eating the food in the area. If you refuse to pay the RM 2 they will be verbally abusive and yell loudly at you! I found this whole experience in Penang disgusting...
