I am giving my review based on a recent event that was held there. So my friend wanted to do a marriage proposal... And we were searching around for a venue, and this place randomly appeared on my Google map suggestions. I had a hunch it'd be good coz from the Google map photos, everything looks kinda nice. And we went to this cafe to ask about the venue and pricing. Daryl (hopefully this is the name) attended us and showed us around, and was giving his best to 'sell' this venue to us. And he has done a good job.. but of course partly because this cafe has what we wanted to organize a marriage proposal. Not only Daryl, the rest of the crew are always putting up a smile.. it was a cozy and friendly place after all.
It has a nice private function room, it is big and can accommodate up to 40/50 people. There is a projector with PA system ready. The interior design is minimalistic and nice. And it was rented at a very affordable price to us. On the actual day, the boss also came to give us a hand. How kind are these people.
So the marriage proposal was a success. And we proceed to try all sorts of food they can offer.
My personal favourite was the BBQ pork ribs. It is so tender and the meat literally falls off the bone. But there are a few batches of the pork ribs, the outer surface is a little too charred, and it produces a bitter taste. I also like the gnocchi pesto. The gnocchi is soft and springy, pesto is flavorful. So many different textures in a dish. Tomyum spaghetti is unique, but I felt I had enough after a few bites (too creamy to my liking). But my friend loved it.
The beverage selection is quite satisfactory. I personally love my bentong ginger kombucha.
Last but not least, ample parking spaces are available at the cafe making it the most convenient cafe to enjoy a meal in Penang. (Penang known for traffic jam and no parking ma). Being a pet friendly cafe, you will be surprised to see a rooster wandering around the compound.
Overall, I love the vibe, the food and the hospitality and will visit again in the...
Read moreIâve been here twice and theyâve both been very pleasant dining experiences âșïž
First time we visited with our dog (yes theyâre pet friendly! đ¶) and we had a great time. Food was great, drinks are good, atmosphere was relaxing. It was a Saturday so it was a bit busy but thatâs what youâd expect, really.
This second time, we came for lunch and it was just the 2 of us. So Iâll give my comments in categories for ease of comprehension:
đ„ Food: We had the rose spaghetti with battered prawns đ€ and the poached eggs with hem on olive bread. For drinks we had the matcha latte and hazelnut latte, salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Everything was goodâportions, waiting time, flavours, and choices. They also have a $19.90 lunch menu for the weekdays with some scrumptious Asian options!
đïž Atmosphere: I really like the set up at Platta. Itâs a large space with tables sufficiently spaced so you can have some privacy if you wish, and thereâs ample private parking space as well. A very easy spot to visit if youâre in the area and donât want to be faced with the hassle of hunting for the ever elusive parking spot.
đŠđ» Service: All of the staff are super friendly (they even open the doors for you!) and very attentive. No complaints, really! And each time you visit you get a 1 for 1 coffee voucher too, so thatâs always a plus â
â„ïž TL;DR: Great food, good service, ample private parking, pet-friendly, 15% off Grab dining-out! 5...
Read moreI visited Platta CafĂ© for breakfast and the experience was overall pleasant. The cafĂ© has a very modern, minimalist vibe with plenty of natural light and greenery that gives a refreshing touch. I especially liked the wall mural art and the stylish mix of wooden furniture with concrete finishes â it feels cozy yet chic. The cafĂ© is also pet-friendly, which makes it even more enjoyable for pet lovers like me.
We ordered a couple of dishes â the roti jala with curry and the scrambled egg open sandwich with salad. The roti jala was nicely done with a light texture and paired with a flavorful curry that had a good mix of spice and richness. The scrambled egg toast was creamy and well-seasoned, served on hearty bread with a fresh side salad. Overall, the food was just fine â decent portions, balanced flavors, though not particularly outstanding.
What stood out the most was the service and atmosphere. The staff were genuinely friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The pet-friendly setup is a big plus, and it felt very relaxing to enjoy breakfast in a space where pets are comfortable and accepted.
If youâre looking for a calm breakfast spot with a trendy interior and welcoming service, Platta CafĂ© is worth a visit. While the food is okay and could be a bit more impressive, the overall ambiance and hospitality make up for it. Definitely a nice cafĂ© to unwind with good company (and even your...
