O’Coffee Club Atelier @ Puteri Cove Quayside, Johor — Restaurant in Iskandar Puteri

I’ve been to Coffee O Club many times and always enjoyed the food and coffee. Even before the cafe expanded to a bigger spade. The quality is great, and most of the staff are friendly and polite. It’s one of my go-to spots, and I usually leave feeling happy and satisfied.

However, I’ve recently had two unpleasant encounters with the same waitress. While she wasn’t outright rude, her attitude felt cold and unwelcoming.

The first time, I had just finished a run and dropped by for coffee and a pastry. Since I was drenched in sweat, when ordering at the counter I told the male staff I would wait outside to avoid dirtying the indoor seating. Then came this unpleasant waitress handed me my coffee without a word, wearing a sour expression. Even when I said “thank you,” there was no response. It felt like I had inconvenienced her sitting outside causing her to walk all the way for my to go coffee.

A few days later, I returned for in dining breakfast and asked a male waiter for plain water before heading to the counter to pay my meal. I didn’t see the usual self-service water station, so I asked. While one staff member was preparing my bill, the same unpleasant waitress quickly told her colleague (right in front of me) to charge me for the water. I politely asked, “Oh, is plain water chargeable now?” — no response. I asked again while looking at her, and she finally pointed to the menu and curtly said, “Yes, ada tulis dalam menu tu,” then walked off. No explanation, no eye contact, just an unpleasant tone and attitude.

I understand everyone can have an off day, but customer-facing roles really require a certain level of courtesy and basic respect. I’ve always spoken nicely to the staff, and I don’t think I deserved to be treated that way — especially at a place that positions itself as a premium café.

To the management: I still love your café and will likely continue coming for the food and drinks. But I hope you can look into this, as one staff member’s behavior can affect the overall experience and your otherwise...

Place: air-conditioned restaurant with very nice surroundings, scenic view, and specialises in western based breakfast and pastries. It's sad that some surrounding buildings are incomplete and run down. Sad.

Service: Waiters are ok la...seem a little blur many-a-times but still managed to get our orders done. When asked about suggested desserts, they can't answer properly. Ended up not ordering any desserts.

Food: Wake up breakfast (RM33): huge portion! Hashbrown was Wonderfully cooked to cripsy perfection, eggs were scrambled just right, bread toasted to the right charr amount, and mushroom was stir-fried well. Verdict: the perfect recommended big breakfast!

Beef lasagna (RM28): wow, the Creamy, cheesy, softness and flavour profile of the entire dish was spot on for me. If there was an aspect that could be improved, my personal opinion is the texture of the dough itself, seems to lack a bite at the end. Verdict: recommended as one of the better lasagna I've tasted.

Smoky Sally Bagel (RM22): this dish was a little blend for ke, and lacked seasoning. Salmon was otherwise fairly fresh and the lemon touch was essential in the dish. Verdict: I won't order it again, but some...

Been here so many times for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The service is top tier but their food is average at best.

Coffee and other drinks is good. Hats off to the barista for the good calibration and the excelent pairing of flavour for their seasonal drinks.

Service is also very good but the food ruin it. Ordered Bolognese for RM29 which is cheap for cafe price but the taste itself is not a bolognese. Makes things worse is that the pasta is overcooked and mushy and there’s raw,crunchy onions that overpowering the not so flavourful sauce.

Told the server about the issue and they gladly changed to other meal which I ordered house salad (RM28) which I would say it’s ‘okay’ but paying more than RM20 for a salad that consist of coral lettuce, 2-3pcs of halves cherry tamatoes, half of avocado and lemon vinaigrette is not worth it.

The lady server who wears the purple work cloth really helpful and understanding.

Recommend to order drinks only here and maybe some of their dessert and pastries...
