Wife went hi tea with friends so I brought my baby girl there for a very leisure lunch. It's empty on the beautiful Sunday afternoon. But I gave it a try.
The ordering process went misunderstood due to language barrier, or new staff.
The manager came to help correct with a kind of cool tone that may stop you from visiting next time. she needs to understand that if the order went wrong, it's her staff mistake. Train the staff to take order or provide a paper so we can write our order. In this term, kku and others f&b in this area are decades ahead.
The machine sent the food. Baby was kinda intrigued. I had to stand up from my place and toom the food four times as there was a distance between me and the robot, and my daughter sitting at the outside. It iUntil the fifth time, a foreign worker finally came for my help. Overall, even being the only customer , I do feel the food arrived not fast enough as I have ordered nasi rendang, and easy to prepare set meals plus two sets of toast.
I think the order of food prepared are not correct. Causing the delay in delivery.
Then 10 mins before the end of the meal, came in a lady with her young child, wearing good dressing, the manager took the initiative to serve them, to the extend of taking the food from the robot for them ☺️☺️
Then came in Korean guests. ☺️☺️☺️ The business could have been way better with a tweak of friendliness and warm gesture to all guests and showcase the simple Hainan people's true friendliness.
By the way, as coffee fan, I think the coffee here could have been better if the sugar...
Read morePlace: air-conditioned restaurant with ample empty seats on most days at most times, that specialises in toast and local Chinese and malay cuisine. From outside, it looks like it is ALWAYS CLOSED, likely due to the inside lighting being dim. I get it that some may think the inside being gloomy but I appreciate this ambience. Gives an overly cozy feeling.
Service: the lady boss was very chatty (maybe because I'm the only customer?) And she asked about the toast, how I liked it, job etc. Sounded a bit like an interview 😳. But was ok la. Not too awkward. But not having barley, lemon grass, yee mee, seems a lil understocked. 🤔 didn't appreciate that when I ordered a nasi lemak there was no add-on option of ONLY chicken or any side dish. So I had to order nasi lemak (RM8.50) and another full priced ayam masak merah with white rice (RM13.90) but they won't serve the rice. In their defence, its 2 pieces of chicken la. Food arrived fairly soon after ordering ~ around 10 minutes.
Food: Nasi lemak: very Chinese style of nasi lemak. The sambal is not sweet nor too spicy. All components on the plate were neatly arranged. But I'd say nothing special about it. Verdict: so so.
Ayam masak merah: very nyonya style of masak merah. Not too spicy. Was so so for my taste too. Got 2 poeces of chicken though. Verdict: average la.
Coffee: diluted. Lack a punch/kick.
Fizzy cincau: Brough back my childhood memory with this...
Read moreHappened to pass by Eco Botanic which I don’t really frequent that area and decided to try out this kopitiam because I’m a toast and kopi lover. Before I start writing this review, I actually browsed through the reviews made by others and I find that pple are really hard to please nowadays with all the mean comments. Is understandable that is very very hard to get a decent worker nowadays for F&B in JB especially due to the SG strong currency. Anyway we did not have any bad service given by the staff when we visited. Food wise I have ordered the Kakra Curry Rice and I find it very appetising. Never tasted such curry taste before and I was told that it was a recipe from their Nepalese worker. Highly recommended. The fried rice set with the cincalok is also superb. Some pple may not like the taste of cincalok but is really very shiok together with the fried rice. My aunt used to make pandan kaya when she was alive and this shop has this homemade kaya that is very similar to the taste I had last time. For the overall experience, I find that is worth giving them a token of appreciation with my review. A lot of restaurants are closing down due to the slow economy, give...
