Rating 4 stars for food and only because the lady boss was a saving grace. Was initially not too pleased with the way the staff handled the situation even though we were giving them various alternatives (more elaboration below, but they seemed inexperienced with dealing with big groups of people, which is understandable since the cafe doesn’t exactly have many tables catered for big groups).
Came on New Year’s around 11am and requested for a table of 12, staff was shocked and told us there’s no table large enough for 12pax and downright rejected us when more than half the cafe was empty with no reservation signages. Subtly understood that she might be thinking we had to be sat together so we offered to be split up into smaller tables, which was when she said there were available tables and brought us in.
Came in to a row of 6 tables available for 2 paxes where we were seated (there were various other tables available apart from this too) and we asked if we could shift the tables together and this poor lady who directed us to sit at the row of 6 tables for 2 pax was being told off by another staff who came to tell us that we couldn’t shift the tables (not sure why especially since we were probably going to occupy the whole row of tables anyway). So we acknowledged and told them again that we didn’t necessarily needed a long table of 12, we were alright with arranging it such that it was in tables of 4 and we could shift them back before leaving but the senior staff wouldn’t relent. Honestly was pretty annoyed at this point in time especially since we were already trying to be as helpful as we could, especially when they brought in questions about billing etc so I told them to do whatever was more convenient for them whether it’s seating arrangements or billing as long as we got to eat (my group travelled down specially for this cafe).
Thankfully the lady boss (who was really professional) came out and settled the seating situation (otherwise this rating will probably be 1 star).
Food here is pretty good, personally love the iced matcha latte over the iced hazelnut latte. Ordered the smoked salmon croissant which was pretty good too but the croissant was not flaky and was towards the soft side. The best part of this dish was the sweet potato fries though! The 3C Benedict was pretty good too; they had ham, cheese and avocado amidst the poached egg and sourdough. Sourdough texture was good too. Hollandaise however was not as flavourful as expected but creaminess was just nice. Egg was poached to a good texture and consistency.
Will probably patronise again especially since the food and service is up to standard (excluding the seating situation), but I would highly advice to make any reservations if you’re coming in a big group so as to pre empt the...
Read moreCame for a late lunch with a friend. Shared the salmon and a slice of mango cake, with hot drinks. I asked for serving plates at time of order. Wasn't asked if we wanted to have cake served before or after salmon. Cake was served before our main course, which doesn't make sense. There was more cream than mango in the mango cake.
Salmon looks good but was overcooked, really needed to cut with a knife, it was rather hard and dry. The sauce was good and definitely necessary with the overcooked fish. Mashed purple potatoes was ok, a little dry for my liking too.
I ordered mint chocolate and my friend had a mocha. They served me mint mocha as the wait staff who took my order put it as that. No repeated order was made at time of ordering. They changed it after I told them it was the wrong order and I do not take caffeine in afternoon.
Overall, service attitude was pretty good, had misses with both food order, drinks were decent. Would likely only come here for drinks if there's...
Read moreIt really makes me feel sad, that today I need to edit my review. I have been coming to TreeSea for many years now. My last review was 2 years ago, and the food was really very delicious and good portions. But my last visit to them yesterday... I am extremely disappointed. I ordered a Pumpkin Salmon pasta... and shocked to find that there is totally no taste. No flavour, and NO SALT. Nothing at all! The salmon also was not seasoned at all. Totally no salt. And it was also hard, dry and overcooked. I don't know what sauce they put on it but it was watery and tasteless. No pumpkin taste. My husband ordered a spicy chicken chop. He requested sauce to be put on the side, but they still served with sauce all over the onion rings. The chicken was also really small portion. We really felt very disappointed, and I am not sure if we want to come back again. The quality of the food here has dropped so...
