We were looking for food after our massage at 11pm. As usual, Google came to our rescue and found this restaurant. Initially when we reached, we thought we came to the wrong place, more like a drinking hole with live band playing inside. Since we were already there, we just got ourselves seated and hope for the best.
Surprise surprise! The food that we ordered was awesome. I couldn’t remember what we ordered (just look at the pictures) but all of them were tasty and well presented. We didn’t expect the food standard to be so good after feeling that the place was more like a pub with live band. We sat outside the restaurant as it’s too loud and noisy inside for a good meal. But it was still loud outside, no doubt better than it’s inside.
The service was nonchalant but we again, didn’t expect much at that hour. Prices were reasonable. The place was pretty packed on a Monday late night and this speaks volume about its popularity. As we were late, some items on the menu were no longer available but I’m sure, we will be back soon to try the rest of...
Read moreWifey searched up this lovely place for dinner during our 3 day JB stay near Legoland. Absolutely loved it!
Very nice ambience, even though it seems like bar food, we found it still fits well for our family with 3 kids.
Loved the food best of all, the soup pork stomach and chicken is my number 1 recommendation. my kids loved it even though they can’t take spicy. But they still braved the slight peppery soup just because it’s so nice. Next time we come, I’d want to try the clam soup too.
#2 for the family is the carrot stewed rice.
Personally my favorite is the stewed pork intestines, it’s perfect with beer!
As for the skewers, I think there’s room for improvement to match the same level as the other dishes. The lamb skewers felt a bit too strong on seasoning, and the potato skewers were way too oily.
Perhaps a note to management - go try the skewers at “A Kitchen 友间厨房” in Singapore, especially the lamb skewers. That would be a great level to get to.
Overall - a great place to be and I certainly want to come back...
Read moreThis restaurant has a beautifully traditional Chinese design, from the chairs to the tableware, which all reflect a strong Chinese cultural touch. We had lunch here and ordered the Lala Claypot. The flavor was rich and unique compared to the usual versions made with Huadiao wine. Their version was smooth, with a subtle creamy note, and the clams were impressively clean with no trace of sand – definitely a big plus.
We also tried the Hot and Sour Shredded Potatoes, Tomato Scrambled Eggs, and Pumpkin Pancakes. The tomato scrambled eggs had a flavor leaning more towards store-bought tomato sauce, while the shredded potatoes were more sour than spicy. The pumpkin pancakes, however, were chewy and delicious.
Service was excellent – the staff were friendly and attentive, and the environment was pleasant. It's a Chinese restaurant worth recommending, though it’s a pity we didn’t get to try their signature wines. They also have a live band during certain hours, which adds to...
