This is my 2nd time here and unfortunately, I am surprised with the contrast of experience I had. The 1st time I had dinner here back in May, it was great! The food was top notch, asam pedas was a perfect blend of spicy and sour, fish was fresh, egg omelette was fluffy yet crispy, eggplant was cooked well, siput sedut was addictive and it made me come back for the 2nd time today.
However, the experience was not the same at all. We ordered the exact same dishes as this time we brought along our kids to try.
Asam pedas - no spice, just tomato taste but ikan merah was fresh still Egg omelette - super salty, we bit grains of salt and I ordered 2 omelettes today! Eggplant - tasteless Siput sedut - not fresh, sandy and had green discharge
Poor experience for my kids, unfortunate that the consistency wasn’t there. When I made payment, the kind gentleman who served us asked if the food was ok, like he did the 1st time, but this time I had to be honest and said not as good as before. Just then, another family came to dine, and the cook too came out and asked, “Another walk-in? Alamak… when will stop???”
Surprised to see this reaction, but then again, not for me to judge. I guess this is the last...
Read morePersonally the best asam pedas and siput sedut masak lemak ciki api (so far) - authentic & tasty. Food delivered within a short time. Price very reasonable. Value for money. Highly recommended especially for those who are keen to taste authentic Johor food.
20.4.2022 5.20pm. Did not accept take away orders at 5.20pm due to too many orders. Ordered 3 pieces of Golden Snapper cooked in masak lemak and mud creeper (siput sedut) cooked in masak lemak cili padi. Tasty Golden Snapper and fantastic mud creeper. Worth the price.
11.11.2022 5.50pm The rain makes our stomach hungrier than normal but as always the Masak Lemak Jenahak (golden snapper) and Siput Sedut Masak Lemak Cili Padi are excellent. Consistent quality and taste. Never been disappointed so...
Read moreThe food was so-so and the atmosphere is great with nice decoration, however the price is quite expensive for locals. I don’t like the pricing. The menu stated that for one asam pedas claypot is RM7 with minimum of 2 pieces. We ordered 2 claypots of asam pedas ikan pari and ikan mayong, and 5 plates of rice, crisy fried squid, mixed tom yam, 2 telur masin, chili oil bendi, and some drinks. The server did not tell us how many pieces of fish were in the claypot. The food arrived were 2 claypots with many pieces of ikan pari and ikan mayong. We were shocked to see the price was about RM200++.
Next time, please make the pricing more clear on the menu and better...
