Just like many before me have commented. Their foods are costly and the pricing was obscured. Basically you pay what they said. We had some dry quey teow/noodle (gan lao/gon low), the amount of which can be finished in 2 bites by an adult. The price? RM9!! Ridiculous! Also I ordered normal kuey teow soup. They automatically served me their "fish soup kuey teow". The price -- RM16!!!
The taste was also below average. Normal ganlao noodles around the area would use minced meat and pork oil for fragrance. In their version? None of this. The noodle was blant. Their fish balls were also of low quality. They promished dorab wolf-herring fish (xi dao) as their fish ball ingredient, but it tastes like nothing like xi dao fish ball. As a matter of fact, it didn't even taste like fish at all, more like starch ball.
4 bowls of these low quality "fish ball" noodles are priced at RM53! Unacceptable!
To make matter worse, their nosey/unattending attitude was aghast. The woman came to calculate the total price gave the "I am very busy and very impatient" look. We as customers even have to reiterate what we have ordered for her to make the proper calculation. What? Didn't the person who took our orders had already noted everything down? When we asked for the price, she, unwillingly, very briefly, but also intentionally vaguely, gave the price of one/two of the bowls and ran away immediately after that.
Just like many have also mentioned, the service was also very very sluggish. The woman cooking was as slow as it could be.
I wholeheartedly advise against this place. To all those who gave 3 stars despite commenting about the bad food and service, I could only remark on your generosity. The others who gave 5 stars and gave good comments might be relatives...
Read moreWant a place just to fill your stomach after a hangover last night? When you've had too much good food and booze, this kopitiam housed in a single-storey residence is just the cure you need. They serve fish sluce noodles, dry noodles, fish head soup with rice coupled with homemade coffee, tea and beverages like coconut water, soya bean and lime juice. The servings are proportionate, taste is very clean/clear and their accompanying red bird's eye chillies pack a punch. The lady proprietor herself cooks the food helped by two to three helpers. She is friendly, chatty and inquisitive if you ask her for places to eat, shop, entertain or just hang out. I have been frequenting this place for more than a decade. No complains about food quality and its JB-pricing. Parking is just outside her vicinity or across the road(free roadside parking)
Edit 2nd October Mee Peng will be MOVING THEIR BUSINESS to a new location in Melodies Gardens by 27th October as their premises were rented and their landlord is increasingly the rental 3-FOLD!!!
I wish them...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem in this area! Been here twice and the noodles doesn't failed me. Love the kway tiao soup and dry noodle version as well. Soup is sweet and not salty, meats are fresh and tasty. Overall very generous serving. Love their kopi peng as well, doesn't have the acidic taste but flavourful.
Seems like a very regular based place and definitely will...
