Itadakimasu いただきます. Today, I had the privilege of enjoying an exceptional lunch experience at Miyagi with my family, Section 9, Bandar Baru Bangi one of the oldest and finest Japanese restaurants in Bangi. From the moment I stepped in, I was welcomed by a Kyoto-like atmosphere, serene, classic, and tastefully adorned with authentic Japanese touches.
The service? Impeccable. The adorable and friendly waitress delivered swift, warm service that made me feel like an honored guest at a traditional ryōtei (luxury Japanese restaurant).
Here’s what I had for lunch today:
🍣 Sushi Shake & Sushi Maguro Perfectly fresh sashimi, delicately sliced with a melt-in-your-mouth texture.
🔥 Teppanyaki Beef Served with fragrant garlic fried rice, silky-smooth chawan mushi, well-balanced miso soup, fresh fruits, and pickles. The beef was grilled to juicy perfection, striking a fine balance between umami and tenderness.
🍗 Chicken Skin Karaage Crispy on the outside. An addictive bite-sized delight.
🍱 Salmon Ikura Sashimi Don Fresh slices of raw salmon atop vinegared sushi rice, generously topped with briny salmon roe that burst with ocean flavor. Served with soup, fruits, and chawan mushi.
🐟 Saba Shio Teriyaki Expertly grilled mackerel with crispy skin and moist, flaky flesh. The teriyaki glaze harmonized beautifully with the natural saltiness of the fish.
🎁 Mochi Peanut (Complimentary) A sweet little surprise, chewy, nutty, and the perfect ending to the meal. In conclusion: Miyagi is more than just a restaurant it’s a sensory journey to Japan, minus the plane ticket. With authenticity, warm hospitality, and consistently high-quality cuisine, this place truly deserves Michelin level praise. Gochisousama deshita – ごちそうさまでした. Thank you for a memorable dining experience. I’ll...
Read moreA must visit for sashimi lover! The prices for meal sets, ala-carte, sushi are more expensive than other japanese restaurants in Bangi but the portions here are bigger. The slices of sashimi are thick.
A bit thumbs down for salmon skin. It was almost like "keropok keping". I would repeat teriyaki salmon. Mochi, ermmm so thick with filling and overshadowed the chewiness of mochi flour. Of course I can't compare them with the one in Nara but other japanese restaurants in Bangi have better mochi than here. The ambient is close to authentic japanese restaurant and the restaurant didnt have the typical sushi conveyor :)
Chawanmushi here is better than other jap. restaurants.
Few years pre-covid I already noticed the restaurant but didnt enter it due to, well it look like a total japanese restaurant and didnt have any halal sign outside the premise, you know just like Sushi Z**i (few dishes in this restaurant are non-halal).
It would be better if you guys put a halal sign outside, you know, if Muslims stumble upon your restaurant, they didnt hesitate to enter it.
I would love to try teppanyaki set and takoyaki if I were to visit it again next...
Read moreFirst time eating here and honestly it was just okay. Service was good and the portions were quite big, and the ambience was nice too, but the food itself felt kinda average for the price.
The Spider Maki was a letdown. Could barely taste the soft-shell crab because the salad inside overpowered everything. It also didn’t taste that fresh, more like cheap sushi. I’d rate it a 6/10.
The Teriyaki Chicken Set was alright, nothing special but decent. Solid 7.5/10.
Tried the Grilled Shio Pacific Saury too. The fish itself was okay, but the grated daikon had a strong fishy smell and didn’t taste fresh. I’d give this one a 7/10. The side dishes were just very standard, nothing worth mentioning.
On the side note, the Chawanmushi had that strong eggy smell and taste which was kinda off-putting. With fresher eggs or a bit more seasoning it could have been so much better.
For dessert they served chocolate ice cream which was just normal. Tasted like any regular chocolate ice cream you can get anywhere.
Overall: Nice ambience, good service and big portions, but flavor-wise it didn’t really impress. Average food at a price that feels a...
