I understand this is a fairly new cafe and it feels like it is still finding its feet. Some elements where fantastic where as others could have more refinement. We where the only guests in the cafe, so difficult to talk about ambience and may have affected the service but the decor was lovely. We ordered a sweet potato tahini salad, vegan burger and vege bowl. We where given a carrot cake free of charge. The salad felt quite expensive given the ingredients where mostly lettuce, the dressing didn't have much tahini flavour and seemed to be confused with a mustard. Overall the salad was very oily. The vegan burger was good with a delicious patty and large chucks of avocado, however it needs some sauce to balance any dryness. I'd recommend a vegan mayonnaise as ketchup is quite sweet. The vege bowl was delicious, very generous with lots of delicious veg prepared in different ways. Highly recommend this. The carrot cake was a nice touch. For a cafe it's a shame the coffee...
Read moreWe booked our stay at Ambong Ambong Rainforest Retreat after we found out that the resort opened a new vegan cafe called Pegaga. 💚
Having Pegaga around truly made our vacation in Langkawi a breeze (literally due to its outdoorsy kampung house setup) and a pleasure since we could enjoy vegan breakfast, lunch and wines here without any doubts about vegan-friendliness. The friendly, knowledgeable and passionate cafe manager Shahidan will assure you of that.
And given the unique nature (no pun intended) of the hilly resort layout, guests might initially be confused about where to check-in. But fret not, if you stumble upon the cafe first after a little climb up the hill (as in our case), you can let the cafe staff know that you’re planning to check-in and they’ll hook you up with the right guys.
Even if you’re not staying at the resort, this cafe should still be on your Langkawi checklist. 🏝

Read moreI love the food at Pegaga, the fresh veggies, the restaurant is super nice and quiet and they don't use MSG. If you are vegetarian/vegan and you would like to try some Malay food, this place is great because they have some local dishes in their menu. The staff is also super friendly. Yes, the price is higher than the regular food stall. But there, you very often only get fried rice or noodles covered with MSG, especially if you are vegetarian/vegan. I also tried an Indian and a Syrian restaurant at Pantai Cenang, and I paid 40 RM for 5 Falafel and some hummus, not even a drink. For the quality you get, I consider Pegagas prices as reasonable and I am more than happy to pay a little bit more if the food tastes so good! I also recommend their other restaurant "Rimba" 5 minutes walking distance away that is open in the evening and has an amazing view. It's not completely vegan/vegetarian but has...
