Our family had an amazing experience 2 weeks ago with Aloft Nook, a big big thank you to Hannis. It was my father's 80th birthday and we were arrived in Langkawi on that day. Initially we wanted to have something nearby as all of us were tired from travelling. A quick search took me to Nook, I contacted them by phone and Hannis immediately sent me the menu by WhatsApp and advised me to choose the dishes before coming in at 8 pm. Out of the 9 of us, two of us were vegetarians. We enjoyed all the dishes we selected especially the spiced calamari rings, chili crab pasta, and nasi goreng kampung. The meat free burger dish was deliciously done. They did not have the sago gula melaka on menu, but we requested for it and Hannis went ahead and got it prepared for us. There was no mangoes but they substituted it with strawberries. But the taste of the sago with the gula melaka and santan was absolutely awesome. All dishes were served within 30 minutes of us being there. We walked in with a small cake for my father, as the ones in Nook were sliced. The staff attentively collected the cake from us and brought it out with the candles toward the end of our dinner. Not to mention all their drinks especially the mocktails and cocktails were done so well. It was a great dinner, with beautiful ambience and our table at the corner was fantastic for some privacy. Read moreWe had a seafood buffet dinner at the restaurant instead of Nook. Compared to our previous visit, we noticed a decline in menu variety and overall quality. Items we enjoyed previously — such as roasted beef, grilled whole fish, a la minute pasta in the cheese bowl, assorted cheese platters, and well-presented fresh fruits — were no longer available. The mixed fruits were not as fresh or neatly prepared, dessert options were limited, and the Ice Kacang station did not have kacang available.
Dining experience is shaped not only by the food spread but also by service quality. While one waiter and one waitress provided commendable service, overall service levels were below expectations. The restaurant manager did not appear to be engaging with guests to ensure satisfaction.
The manager failed to pause the live two-piece band during the Maghrib prayer.
Our return visit was largely due to the exceptional experience under the previous interim Indian General Manager, whose leadership set a very high standard. Unfortunately, this time, the chef left the counter to junior staff, and whole crabs were served without claw brackets — a detail that affects presentation and guest experience.
We hope the management will consider reinstating the quality and service standards that made our previous visit so memorable. With the beautiful setting and potential of the restaurant, maintaining consistency will surely encourage...
