We made reservations for 10pax for a late lunch. Our group arrived around 2.30pm to an empty restaurant except for one table with a single diner. Within 10 mins we made our orders and eagerly waited for our food and we’re excited for it because of the good reviews. Our order did not turn up after 40 mins, which at this point the waitress comes up to our table to inform us that one of our orders are “out of stock”. This is really unacceptable, they could’ve told us this at the very beginning when taking our orders, or even 5 mins after. We placed another order and after 50 mins since ordering our food, they all finally came. The restaurant was not even full, at this point we are the only table there. What’s more perplexing is that there were 5 floor staffs, just sitting around waiting for something to happen, meanwhile the kitchen is gravely understaffed. To top it all off, only 9 dishes came, they forgot about another person’s dish. The waiter who took our order just “buat bodoh” (his name is Khai by the way). He just said sorry with absolutely zero remorse in his face.
The management really needs to buck up. I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through what we did, paying almost 700 ringgit for such a disappointing service.
The ikan bakar, club sandwich, asam pedals, and ox tail soup was good. The mushroom soup was super salty. The beef burger (48 ringgit) was dry, chewy and tasteless. Better to have ramly burger by the roadside for 5 bucks. I could’ve fed the whole group for that...
Read moreThe Rimba is a nicely situated restaurant at the top of a hill overlooking the bay. It would make for a great place to see the sunset with full paneled windows floor to ceiling.
Be aware that if it's a little windy and on onshore at street level it may be very windy in the restaurant itself as it's elevated and positioned in such a way that the wind funnels up to the restaurant.
The service and decor were very good and the place is tastefully decorated. There are small touches such as a QR code for the menu if you want the expanded one however it has been carved from wood.
Parking is a little limited due to its location but manageable. I'm not entirely sure but I think they were offering to take me to my car because it was raining while we were there.
Again, very attentive staff. They were on point.
The food was great, even something as simple as humus and pita, though they should have brought that out while we were waiting for our main dishes.
I recommend making a reservation if you want the better seats in the house as others will be doing...
Read moreA great restaurant to compliment a fantastic resort. My bf and I stayed 2 nights at AARR and 2 nights at APV. We ate here everyday, brekfast lunch and dinner, plus some drinks.
I had the avocado toast, congee and roti canai for breakfast. Usually comes with fruits, bread, coffee and juices. Everything was satisfying to start our day.
For lunch, I tried the oxtail soup and gado gado. We had one lunch at the vegan Pegaga cafe, which was lovely as well.
For dinner I had nasi goreng, asam pedas and a steak at the sky deck. Highly recommended having dinner and drinks at the sky deck during sunset. The views and ambience is just breathtaking.
Furthermore, the staff were all really friendly and nice to us. No complaints there.
Overall, it was a good in-house restaurant and we wanted to try everything on the menu! Only ate out once for the dinner.
The restaurant is also open to outsiders which we noticed there were quite a few. Smiles all around so definitely would recommend even if you're not staying...
