I visited this newly opened vegetarian restaurant recently and, honestly, I was quite disappointed. While the prices are reasonable, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.

First off, the service was really poor. One of the dishes we ordered—rava masala dosa—came with a strand of hair in it, which was really off-putting. On top of that, the staff didn’t seem friendly at all. One of them literally threw the menu card on the table after taking our order, which felt very rude and unprofessional.

To make things worse, even though our full order was repeated and confirmed by the waiter, one of the items just never showed up. When we mentioned it during payment, the cashier told us it wasn’t on the list—as if we hadn’t ordered it in the first place.

Another thing that bothered us was the cleanliness. For a vegetarian restaurant, we were surprised to see quite a number of flies around the dining area. It definitely took away from the dining experience.

Lastly, the waiting time was unexpectedly long. There were only about 5 or 6 small groups in the restaurant, but everything took forever—even just getting the food served.

Unfortunately, Adyar Ananda Bhavan has not lived up to my expectations on my visit. The first negative impact was the lack of friendliness by the staff. While they were taking our order, it seemed as if they forgot some of the most important things, leading to confusion and frustration. When the food came, it was disappointing to see it did not match the pictures in the menu regarding presentation or quantity. Fried rice was the disappointment of my meal. It was not savory at all, and even vegetables were served without salt and pepper. This made the whole dish unappealing and not worth ordering. Generally, it was a disappointment since I expected a lot more taste.

These issues marred the overall experience and left me dissatisfied. A restaurant basically needs service and food quality; in my case, neither of the two was there. I was expecting a fine dining experience, but the grumpy behavior of the staff along with an order discrepancy made the outing dismal. I would advise the management to take this matter into consideration and strive for some improvements in their service and food items. The staffs even don’t know tamil i will never go to...

Disappointed Experience Despite High Expectations

We were recommended to try breakfast here and were excited to do so. Arrived as early as 7:30 AM, being the first customers, only to be let down by poor service.

Upon entering, we greeted the staff with a “Good Morning,” but were completely ignored. When one of them finally approached to take our order, we greeted him again😡only to be met with an arrogant expression. I decided to stop and ask what the issue was. He responded saying he doesn’t understand Tamil, yet proceeded to take the entire order in Tamil, which was confusing and felt disingenuous.
