Had saw many social media postings on Lalapot which was quite popular recently. We visited Dai Tao Lala Pot (Kepong) during my trip in KL. We had walked in at around 1130pm and we were able to get seated right away. The Chinese guy in charge was quite friendly and approachable. He politely introduced to us the menu and told us which was the favourite among his regulars.
They have a fire show which was quite nice to watch though you may have smoky smell on your clothes from the cooking performance. The soup from the stir fried lala was quite fragrant and flavorful as they stir fried the lala with garlic and ginger before adding in the lala. The soup was probably not among the best that I have drank before but I would say is suitable for me as I am a great lover of Chinese food wine (Shao Xing Jiu) and I love food with stir fried garlic. We ordered two rounds of food in total. The second round of soup was a little saltish but the first round of soup was just nice for me. Lala had a little bit of sands during the second round. Staffs were quite nice and approachable. However, I do think the atmosphere or environment can be improved to make it a little more cosy/comfortable.
We spent around RM210 for the two of us as we are quite big eaters and we have not eaten for the whole day. Overall it was still a positive experience. Will visit again if we come to KL.
Note: Do not overcook the clams. The clams doneness were just nice for us as we scooped it out after it was cooked. Then we proceed to add the rest of the steamboat ingredients. This was tip given by the Chinese guy in charge and we really...

The person who is supposed to be taking care of the queue on who is next is running around all over the place instead of a fixed spot. Can you at least place some dividers and tell them where to queue? People are all over the place and we don't know who is next. You can also use a numbering system to queue them so they know who they are in between or you allow booking
Ventilation is not that great as there are insufficient arrangement made. Additional portable fans, better ventilation system on the ceiling, etc
Various waiting time that are stacked on top of each other Wait to get table Wait to get bowl, plate, spoon, fork, chopstick etc Wait to get beverage Wait to get the food (Longest wait), be prepared to wait for anytime 30 mins to 1hr+
Bad coordination of work all in all This goes for kitchen and waiter area. No captain is driving the ship. Everyone is a sailor. Hence the ship is going nowhere. Refer to all above points. this is also due to the insufficient staff for the place, there's like less than 10 for such a huge seating. Hence all various issues pop-up
One of the worst location for parking, be prepared to park illegally...
Read moreDai Tao Lala Pot in Kepong is one of those places you go to when you’re craving a simple but satisfying hotpot meal. What really makes this spot stand out is their clam soup. It’s light, sweet, and full of natural flavor, and the best part is they actually cook the clams right in front of you, which makes it feel fresher and more special. If you’re after something stronger, their pig’s stomach soup is another highlight – peppery, warm, and super comforting.
The hotpot ingredients are quite decent too. You’ll find all the usual favorites like sliced meats, different types of meatballs and fish balls, vegetables, and bean curd. Everything pairs really well with the soup, and it’s fun to mix and match depending on your mood. On top of that, don’t miss out on their fried chicken wings. They’re crispy, juicy, and honestly good enough to order even if you weren’t having hotpot.
Another thing I really like is the variety of condiments they provide – green onions, chillies, garlic, coriander, and more. You can easily whip up your own dipping sauce just the way you like it, whether spicy, garlicky, or light and fresh.
Overall, Dai Tao Lala Pot feels like a cozy and reliable spot for hotpot in Kepong. Nothing overly fancy, but good flavors, fresh ingredients, and a nice casual vibe make it worth...
