照烧鸡排丼Tori Teriyaki Don (RM16.90) - Grilled Chicken with Teriyaki Sauce. This was excellent!! The chicken was so juicy and tender, I really loved how succulent the pieces were and the teriyaki sauce was a flavour boost 😍👍🏻 Mix the warm sticky rice with the soft boiled egg to make it extra moist and lush 🥹 So comforting! 🍚 日式咖喱炸猪排饭Katsu Curry Rice (RM19.90) - Deep Fried Pork Cutlet with Curry Sauce 🥘 Big piece of pork chop which was fried to perfection!!! The cutlet was super crispy and I think it was a loin cut so it was very meaty 🐷👍🏻 The Japanese curry was very thick and aromatic, and after the cutlet soaked in the curry, it became so soft and tender 🤤 日式叉焼丼 ChaShu Rice Bowl (RM17.90) - Japanese ChaShu, Pork Mince with Onsen Egg 🐷 This rice bowl is loaded with porky goodness. Can’t believe it only costed RM17.90 as the portion was huge!! Plenty of minced pork and thick cuts of chashu slices 😍🥓 The chashu was a bit tough but I think it’s because it’s a lean cut so it’s more on the meatier side 😋 While this dish might be mild in flavour, don’t be disappointed as Kyo Canteen serves all their rice bowls with their signature chilli oil!! It’s super spicy, fiery and numbing but that mala burning sensation is something we all need to wake us up and give it that spicy kick 🔥🌶️ Oden - King Crab Chunk, Mochi Kinchaku, Lobster Ball, Shishamo 🍡 Kyo Canteen is particularly famous for their oden. You can either customise your own oden or go for their signature set. They only have one type of broth which is a light, soy-flavored dashi broth. What makes them unique is their variety of oden to choose from 😍 Their exotic selections such as the Chikuwa, FishRoe Kinchaku, Mochi Kinchaku really amazed me as you can’t get this at regular Japanese restaurants in Malaysia. 🤩 They’re probably the only one in KL that actually offer this kind of oden 😍❤️ You can also add on ramen / Konjac noodles to complete your meal 🍜 Perfume Lemon Tea 香水柠檬茶 (RM7.90)
ps their restaurant is super cute and nicely designed! 🫶🏻 They have this cute Japanese curtains, wooden bar counters and even an outdoor sitting at the balcony 🥹❤️ OISHII 🇯🇵👍🏻 Also, the staffs are super kind and helpful, you will feel so warm and welcomed throughout your dining...
Read morePretty straight forward - moderately priced japanese oden place with additional katsu/chicken katsu/agemono, udon and ramen.
Food Its pretty "as it should be" normal, which for some that look for a sparkling "specialty items", this place is not there yet. Oden soup base is pass, katsu don might be better if the base is more flavorful (i assume its the same base used in oden, but its a bit light for non-submerged katsu don meal).
A bit of a let down on drinks department - saw all hand crafted soda is cancelled from the menu.
Pricing Considered as budget if compared to similar menus in KL. You can definitely be in full stomach - either pure oden, or don/ramen/udon set, within RM3x ish.
Deco, seating & air-conditioning Simplicity "muji" style, nothing to fancy but it gets the job done. Seats and spacing is ok, not too crampy. Air-conditioning might be a little weak if its peak hours,...
Read moreCame here with my family, a very comfortable Japanese-style restaurant. We’ve been supporting them since the days when they were just a small stall, and now they offer a wider variety without compromising on quality.
The Japanese-style hamburger was absolutely delicious, and the side dishes were clearly prepared with care. Highly recommended for those who really enjoy the rich flavour of beef.
The curry chicken katsu rice was decent nothing overly surprising, but they were generous with the potatoes and carrots. The only thing that didn’t suit my personal taste was the mentaiko, which leaned towards a spicier profile😵💫 not really suitable for kids.
Everything else was great‼️definitely a place worth visiting regularly.
P.S. There’s also a dessert shop here, and the sweets are...
