I rarely give a full stars on any restaurant unless it’s exceptional and meet the expectation that I set. The food overall is a 4stars, that extra one is human factor.
Me and my wife arrived with a reservation made online via a third party app but it did not show up on their system. Obviously we were worried we won’t secure a seating - the lead waiter assured us it is completely alright as they still have a table. We were seated almost immediately. To say the place is empty, it wasn’t as the next 15mins we saw the place packed.
We were there for the lobsters and Miyazaki lunch set. At 50% off from RM488, no complains for the amount of food we will be getting.
The starter salad was good. Sufficient and well prepared. The corn were sweet and the slight charring brought out the caramelisation which paired with the crispy seaweed (those we have at CNY if it makes it easy for you to imagine). Good mix of texture and taste.
The second was the lobster sandwich with fish roe. Absolutely delightful. Pieces of lobster that was well marinated. The soft toast bread with burst in your mouth Ikaro was awesome.
Next was the mini slider beef burger made from Miyazaki A5 beef. The truffle on caramelised onion and an appropriate amount of cheddar complimented the juiciness and melt-in-mouth Miyazaki. Delightful.
Next was the Miyazaki A5 ordered to be medium rare, as it should be. The accompanying sauce gave the beef a nice zing and a dollop of truffle butter on the well prepared cauliflower gave some texture to the otherwise melt-in-mouth (almost) experience. The Miyazaki A5 while well prepared, was missing something which I can’t point out. Best to cut it into smaller pieces and the beef just disappear in your mouth
The Paella was absolute winner for me. Filled with seafood AND Lobster, it was more than sufficient for two adults. Bearing in mind the previous servings while looked minute, were filling. The lobster, fish, squid, mussels, were simply cooked to perfection with the paella.
Rounding up the meal was a serving of IceCream and chocolate mousse cake, and a chocolate chocolate ganache with a serving of what seems to be a mini puff with lemon cream.
We had a Buy1Free1 wine offer at additional RM38 which complimented the meal really well. We opted for the Sauvignon Blanc.
Now, what makes it 5-stars? It is all about the people. The staff that serves us were not only courteous (which is expected) but they knew exactly was was being served. We enjoyed the explanation, down to the suggestion (by the chef) how best we can enjoy the meal - the lobster sandwich is to be eaten with hands to ensure all ingredients is consumed together (as an example).
It has been a rare occasions that wait staffs were this detailed and passionate about what they do.
Thank you for the good experience. Will be back for more lunch deals...

Oh Lut.. I've been mulling over writing this review because it isn't a good one. Booked because I loved chin chin, Penang and was expecting something as good or better but left disappointed and felt somewhat cheated. Left with this exact thought 'You may be from Penang but coming to KL does not justify such a steep price increase for similar dishes + smaller portions'.
Late review but triggered because I see my friends feeling the same and feel that anyone who comes here should come with proper expectations. We were a group of 5. In total we spent ~RM250pp and left hungry. We are not big eaters. We ordered: lamb rack, short ribs, gnocchi, paella, cauliflower, scallops and black Angus short ribs. The waiter said it would be enough.
Price point- Very VERY expensive for the small portions that were given. They claim to not be fine dining but portion size is fine dining AND at a price point that even Michelin restaurants will not charge. To be full, I dread thinking how much we need to spend, 400? 600? Better off going to a fine dining restaurant in KL.
Poor service- Waiters were not familiar with the menu and did not advise on how small the portions were. We also waited 50mins for our first dish.
Food quality- Only the gnocchi and paella was good. The paella was VERY GOOD but portion enough for 4? No, it was barely enough for 1. it was perhaps 1cm of rice on an 8(?) inch pan. Everyone got 1 scoop of rice and that was it. And again, price point for THAT?! The rest of the food was average. Good but not great.
Agree with another reviewer, perhaps those who have given glowing reviews are nouveau riche and have never had good fine dining before. Yes, I am aware that Lut doesn't position itself as a fine dining establishment but this isn't your typical run of the mill western restaurant. It serves fine dining type food without the pompousness of fine dining etiquette. This review also isn't about affordability as we all know places like these will cost a pretty penny and trust me, people are willing to pay but NOTHING can justify the price tag here.
Unfortunately, will not come back here. Perhaps rethink the pricing and portion strategy. Very...
Read moreVisited on June 23. Tried their signature Set Menu The staff is friendly & attentive to give suggestions, & they would also ask for your feedback on the food. For the signature menu, you get to taste all their signature dishes in a smaller portion. RM288/pax for the signature set menu
They serve as follows :- Truffle scallop - it’s supposed to be US live shigoku oyster as per the menu, but the service screw told us that today's scallop is fresh and nice and would recommend us to exchange with the oyster, so we accepted his recommendation. Scallops are fresh, no doubt; I just personally don’t prefer the truffle taste; it's not so matching overall. Uni Capllini - This is delicious and unique, I would say. Recommended ! Jimaca Spring Roll - The lobster meat is tender, but somehow the fried shallot tastes bland. Overall, it doesn’t make it impressive. Foie Gras Sandwich: This is nice. I would recommend it. Grilled cauliflower ‘n’ corn - with fried chicken skin till crispy and topped with shredded Parmesan, quite nice though. Salmon Tart - nice though, & salmon is cut into small pieces & is fresh. Aged cherry Valley Duck Breast - medium cooked. The meat texture is nice, but the sauce is not so flavorful. Norwegian mackerel - this is disappointing; personally, I don’t like it. Not recommended. A5 Miyazaki Steak - medium-rare cooked. Just nice for medium rare; taste-wise, not too bad. come with wasabi, I found it quite a good match with the wasabi. Aged Australian Lamb loin - lamb is medium-cooked. Personally, I don’t like it because of the gamey taste. Seafood paella - this is tasteless, actually. I requested black pepper. Dessert - Mignardise - the small tart is alright; sorbet & mango are also not too bad; just the jelly wasn’t that good. Chocolate tart - pretty standard for the chocolate tart, but the Tonka Ice Cream that came with it didn’t taste good.
Overall, the food wasn’t up to expectations, but it was indeed average. There is still some room for...
