Ah, Friendship Cafe at Arked Bukit Jalil! Let me tell you, it's more than just a place to grab a bite; it's a little haven, where you'll see the grassy sidewalk filled with tables and patrons enjoying an early breakfast before the sun comes up on that area.
From the moment you step in, there's a comforting, unpretentious vibe. It feels like the kind of place where you can genuinely relax and catch up with friends – fitting, given its name! But let's get straight to the star of the show: their Yong Tao Foo.
Honestly, it's in a league of its own. Each piece is plump and bursting with a fresh, savory filling that clearly uses quality ingredients. The fish paste has that perfect bouncy texture, not too soft and not rubbery at all. What truly sets it apart, though, is the variety and the care taken in preparing each component. You'll find the classics, of course – silky smooth tofu, crisp bitter gourd, and juicy lady's fingers – but they're elevated to another level here. And the soup! Oh, that clear, flavorful broth – it's light yet deeply satisfying, the perfect accompaniment to the fried and steamed pieces. Don't even get me started on the chili sauce; it's got that ideal balance of heat and tang, adding a wonderful kick without overpowering the delicate flavors of the Yong Tao Foo itself.
What I appreciate most is that you can taste the freshness in every bite. It's evident that they take pride in their ingredients and preparation. Whether you prefer your Yong Tao Foo swimming in soup or crispy and fried, Friendship Cafe delivers on all fronts. Beyond the incredible food, the service is always friendly and efficient. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, making the whole dining experience a pleasant one. So, if you find yourself in Arked Bukit Jalil and have a craving for Yong Tao Foo that will truly impress, make a beeline for Friendship Cafe. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you. It's a testament to the simple joy of good food done right, and a place that truly lives up to its name in terms of warm and satisfying...
Read moreChances are one has to queue for tables if they go to Friendship Cafe for breakfast. There are two stars of this neighbourhood kopitiam - chee cheong fun (curry) and nasi Lemak - which I managed to try one morning when I had to do some works in this area.
Already cursing as parking is already difficult, I had to keep an eagle eye to spot vacant table (ie. people leaving) as the hungry crowds made their way to eat their first meal of the day.
However, the mood got instantly better after being greeted by the friendly CCF operator who was never lack of smile. The queue was long but moving fast, and the sight of various ingredients made my tummy growling. Feeling greedy, I fast hand fast leg picked my breakfast items.
◾Curry Chee Cheong Fun - I just had the ingredients sans the rolled rice sheets. Curry was flavourful but my fav in KD triumphed over this anytime, BUT (there's always a but) their crunchy sambal rocks! Somehow the sambal went very well with the curry and ingredients. Wished I asked for more. ◾Nasi Lemak - the son loves his national dish and he said that the sambal was not too sweet nor spicy, just right. ◾Drinks - mediocre at best!
I don't mind eating the CCF again if I happen to be in...
Read moreI was very disappointed with the poor service today! This morning, my family and I (4 of us, including the elderly) had breakfast at this restaurant. After we finished our meal, the owner asked her staff to strictly clean up our dishes, except for the drinks we hadn't finished yet. The conflict happened when my sister took my mom to the toilet, and the owner just took away our chairs without asking for our permission as there were other customers who needed extra chairs. I understood the situation and was willing to leave our seats for others. But how can your boss treat her customers unpolite like that? Is that how you offer...
