The food is over rated, not too bad but not as what i expect. The customer service is super duper lousy, arrived at the place around 12ish and my husband and i were queuing up with only a lady in front of us. 5 mins later the crowd started, my husband and i were so glad we arrived earlier. Waited for around 10mins to be seated which we are okay with it as we had so high expectation on it. We are not provided with QR for ordering upon seated, the waitress told us the pos system is currently unavailable and asked us to wait. Alright, another 10 mins passed by, she gave us 2 invalid qr code, and we requested to do manual ordering instead of using the system. She say they practiced qr order and blah blah blah, and lastly they change our table to bar table saying that we can order through qr there which we are not so happy but okay. We were able to enter to the menu after changing seat, and when we happily selecting the food, the page suddenly down again. So this time they allow us to make manual order at the counter. But the queue is so long and we have to wait for another 5 mins before our turn, and the customers ordering before us are actually all arrived later than us to the restaurant. With the hope that they may prioritise our order as we arrived so much earlier and requested so many times for manual ordering, unfortunately no such arrangement for us. So we are hungrily see all the customers came after us finished their food and left, and still had the last hope that the food is nice and boo! I can get similar steam pork patty in chinese mixed rice restaurant. So then after we finished the meal we proceed for payment and the cashier apologised and say if we want they can give discount. Hmm, well we paid full price without discount. No more returning to this overrated place, left the...

Imitation is an art, sadly this is a high schooler's bad copy.

Japan's HIKINIKU to come is a popular restaurant serving charcoal grilled handmade hamburgers on rice with a raw egg on top. A simple yet well crafted dish that propelled the restaurant to multiple branches, even one at Taiwan. Because of the simplicity of the ingredients it inspired many other similar restaurants that offer the same menu.

FUKUNIKU is obviously one of these restaurants that saw HIKINIKU's success and intend to replicate it. I have to give some props to them for being pioneers in bringing it to Malaysia, albeit it deciding to downgrade on every aspect that made the original successful.

The ingredients is definitely not as high quality, and the cooking methods are certainly not as refined. What you will get from FUKUNIKU is a basic oven baked hamburger on normal rice with an egg on top. It can be argued the price they charge is way cheaper than the Japanese original, but even taking that it mind its still a big disappointment as there are definitely alot of improvements that could be done to provide a more desirable product. With the same money I could get better food elsewhere easily.

To make things slightly worse they are either understaffed or undertrained because their service clearly could not cope with the amount of customers. Slow cleaning up of tables, rushed and messy preperations of food, confusing responses to technical issues on my sole visit there.

Being disappointed with the restaurant and sympathetic with the staff I decided to not visit anytime soon.

"Mom can we have HIKINIKU?" "We have...

My colleague and I decided to visit this restaurant during lunch hour. There were many empty tables, showing the place wasn't crowded. However, we experienced a significant delay in receiving our meals. We waited for more than 30 minutes, and our dishes were brought to us one by one with a 10-minute gap between each serving.

Furthermore, we were initially informed that we would receive free eggs with our set meal. Unfortunately, despite our multiple requests, the eggs were not delivered. It wasn't until we were almost finished with our meals that the boss informed us they had run out of eggs. It seemed like they had no intention of letting us know unless we had asked. Eventually, after numerous reminders, we finally received the eggs that were promised.

Additionally, I would like to comment on the taste of the meat served on top of the rice, which is one of the highlighted dishes at this restaurant. To be honest, the flavor was rather ordinary and didn't complement the rice as I had expected.

In conclusion, I find the food at this restaurant to be overrated, especially considering its reputation on social media. The overall experience was marred by the long wait for our meals, the poor service, and the underwhelming taste of the signature dish. On a side note, if you were to earn the money from working adults, please improve the service particularly on your speed. We have only one hour...

I have been craving for Ochazuke for more than a year and have been eyeing this place for a while now. Finally, had time to book and cane to try their food. It’s a limited menu of Ochazuke (4 types) and Donburi (a variety) and noodles (limited too). It’s not your typical Japanese restaurant with an extensive menu. The food did not disappoint me. We tried the Deluxe Donburi (double pork hamburger on rice) and the Salmon Ochazuke. The Ochazuke broth was a little sweet for me. But it paired well with the salmon and rice. It was broiled salmon not raw. I wonder if it would have tasted different with raw salmon. For the deluxe Donburi, the pork hamburger tasted homemade and evenly spiced. Soft and juicy. The food was not overly salted. Milder, taste wise but definitely comforting and healthy to eat. The miso soup was real treat unlike other Japanese restaurants I have been to, where miso soups are very flavourful, MSG laced. I would go back to try the other Ochazuke of eel and pork. I must commend the very attentive waiters who like the others have written here, are top notch and took the trouble to explain the menu and how to enjoy the dishes. Kudos to them. If you go the extra mile, you have half won the customers already. All in all, go give it a try. Your taste buds will thank you. 😌

I’m not even a big meat eater; I usually prefer a balanced plate with different foods, so I went for the kimchi hamburger rice set (my go-to at Japanese stalls whenever I crave a hint of spiciness and flavour). And I must say, I already started missing the place the moment I left. What really stood out was their top-notch service. The staff were genuinely friendly - they asked if it was our first visit, patiently walked us through the menu (though choices were simple, just rice or ramen), and even accommodated my special request for extra spring onion with a whole bowl of it. Small gestures, but they make a huge difference. They also explained how to enjoy the dish and reminded us that the gravy could be refilled. Food was good, service was better! But one tiny downside: I was seated near the oven, so while the grilled meat aroma was mouthwatering there, my clothes carried it all the way home 😂 Still, this place is definitely worth revisiting! Small tip: avoid peak lunch and dinner hours. We went in between and it was pleasantly busy but not overwhelming.
