My family and I dined at this Japanese restaurant recently. I was initially drawn in by its high ratings, so we decided to give it a try. However, when we arrived during a public holiday dinner hour, there were only two tables occupied. I already felt strange and wondered why there were 1.2k reviews and a 4.5 rating.
We ordered gyoza, chawanmushi, garlic salmon fried rice, teppanyaki chicken, and a pork ramen noodle. Unfortunately, the pork in the ramen was a total letdown, and I ended up setting it aside. The fried rice was disappointingly soggy, but it tasted just okay. Other was just mediocre. The standout was the teppanyaki chicken, which was the only enjoyable dish.
While the food was decent in general, I found it to be a bit overpriced which is the main reason I wouldn’t be returning.
Towards the end of our meal, the answer to my curiosity about the high rating was revealed. A waiter approached us to inquire about our experience. Given our somewhat disappointing meal, I didn’t have much to say and simply responded with ‘okay.’ To my surprise, he promptly presented a QR code and asked us to scan it for a review and told us that we could choose either ice cream or edamame after giving a review.
Now it’s clear to me how this restaurant has achieved a 4.5 rating with 1.2k reviews. While the service are commendable, I believe there’s room for improvement, especially in terms of food quality and pricing. It’s worth noting that families with kids might particularly enjoy this place as there’s a spacious outdoor playground in front of the restaurant.
In all honesty, given my experience, I would rate this restaurant with just one star to skew the average rating back to its deserved rating, which I think is only 3 stars. It seems that the high rating may have been influenced by others who received something in return for their reviews, which skews the...
Read moreFirst and definitely my last time here.
The wait from my orders to receiving the food was 45 minutes. Looking around, I observe the same happening for the others too. The server staffs were scrambling the entire time coping to juggle the food serving and payments made. They servers were trying their very best to satisfy customers who were visibly upset, and who asked for their orders to be checked more than twice. Customer service on a server level wasn't the issue as they were at the max capacity and were very apologetic (which is why I've rated 5 stars for service). From what I observe, it was really the kitchen that was failing the entire operations.
Mochi and watermelon cut came almost immediately after orders were keyed in,.and sat there for 45 mins. When I did receive my food which (was a set), the miso soup was left out of it. The same thing happened to the next table. This shows no QCs were made from the kitchen.
Nothing to write home about when it came to the food. Everything was mid. If anything, it was plain salty (not being extra critical due to a lost of appetite from the long wait. this is an objective feedback). The only consolation was the rather generous portion. But was portion alone enough? No.
During the 45-minute wait, even more customers came in to fill the space. I can't imagine how they could be able to manage that, given so many backlogged orders.
Also browse the reviews here as I was curious, and saw some negative comments that were quite accurate. The average high rating here is extremely questionable.
If the manager who sat us in, had at any point asked me if the long wait was okay, or had given an indication of time, at least I wouldn't leave with such a terrible experience. Before I paid, the lady staff (who tried her best to serve everyone with much urgency) handed me two cups of plastic ice-cream as an...

Recently, I visited a restaurant with a friend as we were craving Japanese food. I saw quite a few good reviews on Google, so I decided to give it a try.
Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We ordered several dishes, including ramen and salmon teriyaki.
The ramen, in particular, was a letdown. The onsen egg was fully cooked and not marinated. I informed the staff, and they offered to replace it. I asked for an authentic onsen egg, not a fully cooked one. After waiting for 20 minutes, the replacement egg still hadn't arrived.
When I ordered the salmon teriyaki, I expected it to come with the teriyaki sauce. Instead, it was served without any sauce. They took it back to the kitchen to add the sauce, which is a crucial part of the dish. By the time it returned, the salmon was overcooked and dry.
After this experience, I must admit I'm left questioning the authenticity of the positive reviews on Google. This has left me with no desire to revisit...
