Wrong venue for a hungry ghost like me. But it was picked by my son for a parents day out. I wanted to laugh and be angry at the same time but decided against it, since this son of mine is a very sensitive bossy type. Anyway it is the thought that counts When we stopped at the entrance I made a muted protest but either he ignored it or pretended not to hear because first it doesnt look like any eatery I known (normally roadside stalls), second it smells Italian, thirdly the walls are stack stacked high floor to ceiling with alcohol bottles. Looks like a bistro to me! I dont know whether those bottles are wines or, brandy, whisky, vodkas and I thought how wonderful if it was wine kept aging in the tropical weather.( thats sarcasm) or whether those are only decorative bottles. (see pictures). So we ordered (under protest, no kari ayam, sambal belacan or ikan bakar??). Pretended I know what I am ordering but I saw the magic potato chips, I ordered something like Calamari Salad ( I remember this one because it rhymes with Kalahari desert)as appetizer and "Risotto" main dish (this Italian one I remembered apart from Pizza Hut) and the potato chip as dessert. (not ice cream, ehh!). First the Calamari apettiser was served with four thumb size squids (thumb size get it?) and looking at the price I nearly choked to death because I could gulp it all down in one mouth full. For that price I could get a kilo or two of super giant size squids at the market. Ok! RM to Euro rates are not in favour. Main dish the Risoto was alright nothing spectacular since I get to eat rice. (Malaysian, oh brother!) . Then the dessert - potato chips - a stomach saver but I got roughly 5 slivers of potato the rest of the bowl was cleaned up by my son.To wash down all those food , I though of white wine but then I settled for a can of Pepsi.Paid the bills and went home to raid my...
Read moreWhat do you do when it's lunch time and the hungry monsters were making a scene in the car? The traffic was moving slowly along Jalan Tekawi 3 where my car was, I spotted this place and proceed to chase them out of the car.
I had to park the vehicle in multi-storey parking and walked all the way there. Fortunately the cafe seemed nice and quiet which was a stark contrast from the chaotic situation outside.
Basically Table9 is listed as Italian restaurant with Korean-fusion cafe which suited the kids' bud as they recently acquired taste for Korean food... finally!
◾del Porto salad with smoked salmon, shrimps and cherry tomatoes in honey-lime dressing. Perfect for the health-conscious who can't live without greens. ◾Margherita pizza had this thin crispy crust and fresh basil leaves (I liked that), and the famished kids had no qualm finishing it. ◾Korean sweet & spicy chicken wings was the choice of the sonny who can't get enough of spicy stuff. ◾Chi-cheese is their interpretation of deep fried boneless chicken with Korean soy sauce & melted mozzarella cheese served on hot iron plate. This dish was meant for sharing but in the end, the kids finished 80%-90% of it.
I think Table9 is more of a Korean cafe with Italian influence. I did a quick search and found out that they had been in Tekawi dining scene for quite a number of years 😅 better late than...
Read moreI've always wanted to visit this eatery since I've heard of it for a few times now, so my gf and I decided to drop by.
The food was delicious and the environment was comfy and insta-friendly. It's suitable for familes with kids too.
The only drawback was the staff which was clueless about our order. When we asked what the food contains or if it's spicy or not, the staff aren't able to describe it at all.
The worse part to this is that we ordered a Belgian Chocolate Croffle for dessert, so after we were done with our mains, we requested for our dessert to be served.... To our surprise, not only was our order not keyed into the system, the staff that took our order had even left work, so the other staff were practically clueless!
We ordered the croffle again anyways, but after waiting for 10-15 minutes, only to find out that it still hasn't been made, we decided to cancel the dessert and left.
Overall, go for the food and environment, however you've got to be patient enough to tolerate the untrained staff. Would definitely come again for the food if I'm in a...
