Awful food and terrible wine selection .. I simply cannot believe the good reviews on here
1/ wine: no wine list at all (unheard of).. and selection was 2 or 3 each o red and white , really low quality Chilean wines priced up to 250. No Spanish wine - in a tapas bar !!!.I think the owner just gets whatever cheap nasty wine is available cheaply. Vivino score as low as 2.5 (!!)
2/ food: tiny portions of what looked like microwave or frozen food.. 3 tiny meatballs in gravy for about 35 RM.. so small ..like teaspoon sized.
Tortilla was small and was not what I'm used to.. no big chunks of potato ..maybe came from freezer packet.
Sardines over cooked and not really recogniseable as sardines
Bread was pre sliced and hard, dry and stale..inedible. like it had been left sliced and uncovered for a few days.. awful. The waiter said they baked their bread freshly on the premises ... Which I think was total BS. maybe they buy pre sliced bread in sacks .. and use over a week or 2. How hard is it to provide fresh bread?! seriously....W T F. We complained about the food and bread and just got a 'sorry' from the waiter..that was it. Did not recognise it was an issue or needed some correction.
3/ drinks : margarita was alright..other cocktail was very weak and not enough lime in it.
I have to say this was the most disappointing meal I have had in KL ..ever.
Service was ok...and the venue is actually quite nice.
But the food was really way way below par and way overpriced..paid 170+ for 2 of us for just 3 tapas and drinks... Really bad value for money and the tapas were not at all authentic.
Overall feel was of a chain restaurant where the owner has 'value engineered' the pre packaged food down to a very low level and kept the prices high. Really not a good experience and a waste of money.
Don't understand how this places stays in business ..except from new customers who visit once ..and...
Read moreLa Bodega truly shines as a dining destination, not just because of its delightful cuisine but also due to the remarkable service, especially from their standout waiter, Usama. From the moment we were seated, Usama made us feel not just welcomed but truly valued. His attentiveness and keen eye for detail ensured our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.
Usama's knowledge of the menu and his ability to make spot-on recommendations based on our preferences was impressive. He was personable and exuded a warmth and professionalism that added a special touch to our evening. It's rare to encounter someone who not only excels in their role but also enhances the overall atmosphere of the place with their charisma and dedication.
The owner of La Bodega is indeed fortunate to have Usama on their team. His exceptional personality and performance set a high standard for service. It’s clear he isn’t just serving food; he’s crafting an experience. If you’re deciding on where to dine, consider La Bodega not only for its delicious offerings but for the top-tier service that...
Read moreMy friend always raved about la bodega chicken and I never really got it until I stumbled upon this place that’s actually called La Bodega. We went in for early dinner, ordered a few things and it was interesting. Price is around RM20 - RM40 per plate depending what you order and non-alcoholic drinks were below RM20. Speaking of drinks, the sangria mojito is really nice - fruity and just the right amount of sweetness.
Pic 1: The carbonara pasta doesn’t taste like usual carbonara that I always have at other places but it’s interesting nonetheless! Big portion and lots of mushrooms and meat.
Pic 2: Can’t remember what’s it called on the menu but it’s essentially chicken cooked with a lot of olive oil. (The la bodega chickennnn) It’s a bit spicy as they cook it with chili. Paired with bread to eat!
Service: 10/10! The staff were really friendly and checked on us if everything was good.
Would totally come here again to try out other types of food on the menu and maybe some alcoholic...
