Honestly I’m on the fence about Solh. It seems like the owners have really taken a lot of care into building the ambience and menu of the place. Which are great. The ambience is spot on and I cannot fault the food. The food is really good and presents a creative, diverse menu except for the desserts - which are uninspired, boring and definitely overpriced. We didn’t bother with dessert as nothing seemed to pique our interest.
Cocktails were either a hit or a miss and unless you’re paying happy hour prices for them, they’re certainly not worth the overpriced price tags at almost RM50 a pop. The Rozelle one I had was particularly bad and I couldn’t even bring myself to drink more than a sip of it because it tasted exactly like dishwashing liquid. And this was one of their signatures btw that was recommended by the front of house. My husband gave up after his first cocktail (which tasted no better than orange juice) and asked for a glass of Jim beam and it came with a lime wedge in it (What?! Why?!). Get a proper bartender please cos’ your place has so much potential. It’s a shame really.
Where Solh really let us down was the service. It was appalling to say the least. From the moment we walked in, the service was a let down. I had made a reservation in advance and specifically asked for a table for 2 in the upper deck area (where the carpet grass was) and was told that yes we will be given a table there as it was available. When we arrived, we were given a table for 2 in the lower cemented area. When I informed the front of house about our request during our reservation, he showed us to a table for 6. Imagine being on a date night with your husband and being seated at a table for 6. The front of house eventually rearranged the tables and gave us a table for 2 in the area that we had initially reserved for. Please don’t take a reservation if you do not intend to honour it accordingly.
Well the service issues it didn’t end there. There were enough staff present but none were attentive. Most of the time they were all inside pooling around the dessert/bar area when the majority of the clientele were all seated outside. 10 mins to get someone to take our order. Drinks + main came after around 20 minutes, but the water and appetiser we ordered was nowhere in sight. Took another 15 mins to get someone’s attention to request for the water again. Food arrived pretty promptly but oddly the appetiser was the last of the lot to arrive. And guess what? The water never came until we were almost at the end of our meal. And it came twice then 😂 And when we had requested that the balance of our mains be taken away and asked for the dessert menu, the takeaway items didn’t arrive until 20 minutes later after we had to follow up on it with the front of house and the dessert menu never arrived either. So we just paid our bill (which took another 15 minutes) and left. What on earth was going on with the wait staff really? Get some proper wait staff and train them well! Such a shame as your restaurant has so much potential!
Verdict: we will probably be back for the food and ambience but will give the drinks and dessert a miss. Hope they step up as this would be a great...

I recently visited Solh KL, a Mediterranean restaurant, and had an amazing dining experience. The restaurant offers a diverse menu with a variety of Mediterranean dishes, and I must say, the food was absolutely delicious!
We started our meal with the lamb skewers, which were tender and flavorful. The meat was perfectly cooked and seasoned, leaving a delightful taste on the palate. The spices used added a nice kick to the dish without overpowering the natural flavors of the lamb.
Next, we tried the seabass, which was cooked to perfection. The fish was moist and flaky, and the accompanying sauce complemented it beautifully. The dish had a delightful Mediterranean twist, and the flavors were well-balanced.
The prawns were another highlight of our meal. They were large, succulent, and cooked just right. The prawns were marinated in a flavorful blend of Mediterranean spices, which elevated their taste to another level. Each bite was a burst of flavor and freshness.
Surprisingly, we also decided to try their pizza, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The thin crust was crispy, and the toppings were generous. The combination of Mediterranean ingredients created a unique and delicious pizza experience. It was a great option for those who prefer a fusion of flavors.
Overall, Solh KL exceeded our expectations with its delectable Mediterranean cuisine. The dishes were packed with flavor, and you could taste the authenticity and care put into each preparation. The ambiance of the restaurant was warm and inviting, adding to the overall experience.
The service was excellent, with attentive and friendly staff who made sure we had a memorable dining experience. The prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes.
If you're a fan of Mediterranean cuisine or looking to try something new, I highly recommend visiting Solh KL. It's a hidden gem in terms of flavors and offers a delightful culinary journey. I can't wait to return and explore more of their...

Sohl is a leafy alfresco sanctuary in a residential development. Depending on the weather, Sohl can be a peaceful place to be on bright sunny afternoon or it could be quite hot & stuffy.
◾Crispy Chat Potatoes on Spring Onion Aoili RM22 - a simple carb dish with an addictive sauce which I wanted to order as snack initially but ended up as main for one princess. ◾Chargrilled Okra with Harissa Peanut Sauce RM20 - appreciate that the okra retained its crunchiness while blanketed by the spicy peanut sauce. ◾Persian Lamb Stew RM29 was dish of the evening with the tender lamb meat & rich hearty stew gravy. The accompanying breads felt like godsent to wipe off the gravy. ◾Mussels with chickpeas in spicy turmeric stew RM32 was an extra addition to our dinner. The turmeric gave the sauce a bit of spiciness, and I couldn't resist wiping off the sauce with the bread after finishing the fresh mussels. ◾Syrian Grilled Spring Chicken served with spice reduction, sumac onion & parsley + pickles RM38 - served on a wooden platter, the coarse sea salt made the difference when added to the poultry. ◾Sam Panopolous RM38 is their take on Mediterranean style pizza topped with shawarma chicken, jalapenos, pineapple slice, arugula, feta, mozzarella & tomato sauce. Quirky combination but somehow it worked.
I reckon that it's cooler to dine indoor during the day, but when the sun sets in the evening.. the alfresco area is THE place to sit down and enjoy good night out with the company of good friends...
