I went to Mad Hatter after my partner piqued my interest. We were there around 8:30PM, looking for a place for me to exploit my cheat day. We sat by the window, appreciating the ambiance of a quiet cafe and seeing whether we could recognise the song of each musical that was on the cafe's playlist.

The food was stellar. There's a lot of attention to detail that goes into the food. We had the Strawberry and Cheese, an interesting balance of refreshing fresh fruits to go with a cheesecake resting on chocolate crumble. It is a good date spot because the desserts that are on the menu are mainly portioned for two. It really does make you feel like you're ordering to share and I love that, it makes the menu affordable when you think about it in this mindset. The drinks, while not as complex as the food, is just as good to complement whatever you'll be eating there.

On average, you'll be spending about less than RM30 - RM50 for a dessert for two plus drinks.

What MadHatter Desserts deliver on is a quiet space for you to enjoy a tranquil retreat and a conversation where you're not yelling over each other or blocking out disruptive noises. The staff members are also friendly, chill, and they know their menu so if you feel lost on what you want to order then they can help you pinpoint what your taste buds are...

Atmosphere : cool chic Scandinavian modern design ....quitell a cosy place for that small gathering of friends or nice place for the lovely quiet time which you may wanna just enjoy a cuppa without that chain starbucks feel

Dessert : unique flavours using local produce (which I feel that being Asian we should be proud of )...instead of that over hype oversea berries or flavours while still using classic desserts techniques ..

Highlights : do come after 7pm to try their unique dessert dishes which the chef created..it is these few desserts that truly display his talents and creativity in this field which should inspire many other dessert shops or chefs .... for example : the humble kadongdong fruit had been done three ways which makes you relook and rethink about this fruit more ways than just juicing or preserving it .

The chef is doing the right thing in promoting local fruits and flavouring and remain true to our uniqueness to showcase to the world... keep it up and let the world know what beautiful produce/fruits, we have in this little corner of...

Desserts pretty on plate, too pretty to eat

Run by MasterChef Asia's runner-up Marcus Wong who loves making desserts, this is another dessert place that I would go once in a while. Located in the notorious busy area of Damansara Utama, this dessert place offers sweetness galore to those with sweet tooth.

The young ones were ooh and aah upon setting their sights on the beautiful creations such as Chocolate Calamansi, Strawberry & Cheese, among others.. all neatly displayed in the glass cabinet display where one can point and choose.

But I just chose their decadent brownie served with a scoop of ice cream this time while sipping a glass of flat white. Not too sweet yet moist and delicious; and the sight of "love" (or heart) coffee art on the cup made the...

This hidden gem of a dessert cafe in Damansara Uptown needs to be shouted about, because the two desserts that we tried were excellent. Firstly, the cafe was very clean and kept to a minimalist theme, no doubt because the main star were the desserts themselves. The Claypot Rice was a very clever play on the actual dish, and came with a clear explanation on the flavours plus a grand reveal! Whereas the Pineapple Creme Fraiche married together both sweet and slightly sour to create a fabulous dessert from a fruit I otherwise don't like. Both desserts were too pretty to eat, but eat we did. Kudos to Marcus, who patiently explained each dessert's ingredients and flavour profile, and we'll definitely be back with empty stomachs to try more of their offerings!
