Located in Menjalara area of Kepong, the restaurant serves Thai style chicken rice.
The restaurant interior is clean but basic. Tables are well spaced apart. Utensils (fork and spoon) are placed at the tables in a box container. Tissues are placed at a corner for the customers to retrieve.
The wait staff will take your order at the table. However our drinks did not arrive until we reminded them of it.
The chicken breast with rice, is plain. Very plain. Lacking fragrance and flavour. The chicken, while tender, tastes bland. There is a small sauce plate provided but that sauce is also rather plain tasting. This goes contrary to the normal Thai food, authentic or localized, as Thai food tend to have stronger flavours. The soup is a little sour, perhaps assam was added to it. I find myself thirsty later indicating probable use of MSG, which is strange as the food is bland.
The Yau Mak is just normal. Cooked just enough to maintain crispiness. Portion is small in relation to the price, so it was not value for money.
The price variations are strange. Some are fair but some are overpriced. Quality of food is a little lacking, and it shows with the lack of crowd...

RM9.90 for a plate of chicken breast rice is fair, having it in an ac room. Portion is adequate, chicken meat is on the drier side but still soft. My question is where is the skin? Even though I dont eat them but I still wonder where are they? Rice is not as fragrant as I would expect and it is slightly undercooked imo. Complimentary soup is not the ordinary chicken soup. Instead it is a clear soup with kaffir lemony/ sourish flavour. Chili sauce is special as they used fermented bean paste as one of the ingredient giving it an umami flavour. Lil to no spiciness. A tad sourish. Tom yum kong at RM15.50 with 2 medium size prawns, 3 slices of tomato, a few pieces of canned button mushroom and half a handful of enoki mushroom is underwhelming. It has a sweeter note and it is less spicy which is suitable for family.
One plus point, nett price, zero...
Read moreWe tried the Roast and Thai style chicken. The roast chicken had an interesting mix of roast and fried in it's texture. Soft and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside.
The Thai style chicken was juicy and smooth. Went really well with the chili sauce that had more of a green chilli taste. The rice was also not too oily and fragrant.
The Yao Mak vege was a big disappointment, it was overly wet and felt like fresh steamed vege soaked in water. The garlic topping was what helped to make it more manageable.
We tried the mama Tom yum noodles and it was packed with flavor. The raw egg mixed in the hot soup thickens it perfectly and make it a much richer broth. I did feel that the lemon grass inside made it hard to fully enjoy the soup. They were cut too small to take out immediately and too big to chew without feeling tough.
Overall a pleasant experience for their clean...
