10.08.2025 Sunday 12noon. Me and my BFF came here for lunch. It was a nice comfy little cafe in a neighborhood community. You have to pass through a security check first. Just say you're going to the cafe and they will ask to scan your driving license, it's that easy. The first thing attracted me was the reviews mentioning easy for parking. Indeed a lot of parking available and that make me more at ease to drive there. We ordered the grilled salmon carbonara that I shared with my friend. It was creamy, delicious and flavorful with big piece of grilled salmon (nicely grilled and yummy). We had the pandan gula Melaka cake and it was just nice, not too sweet and every bite was just yummy. For coffee I had the sweetheart latte. The espresso is not strong, drink is sweet with the honey inside. Overall I enjoyed my lunch time here in this cafe. I hope I get to come here again because I am staying in Shah Alam. Staffs are nice and friendly. Cafe is comfortable and nice to dine in. The only thing to improve is their chair, if they can change it with a taller back rest 🤭. Not seated well with the...
Read moreThe moment I stepped into Penguin Specialty Coffee, I recognized Jack right away. He served me one of the better quality coffee sometime in 2023 when he was still operating from a terrace house in Kepong Baru.
Fast forward to 2025, I found out that he has moved to Menjalara and this called for a revisit. One has to pass a guard post in order to reach this corner lot shop.
◾Dirty Matcha RM14 - velvety matcha meets espresso. It had a rich flavour and slight bitterness from the matcha (I opted for sugar-free), intensified by extra kick of caffeine. ◾Aerocano RM12 - steaming espresso with ice in a pitcher to incorporate air to provide nitro cold brew texture ◾Pour Over Coffee where I picked coffee beans from China's Yunnan Lujiangba Baoshan had a clean tasting note with strawberry, pu er tea and winey.
They are serving hot food in the menu to complement the drinks, something which the previous outlet didn't do. I like the overall ambience of this cafe. Will drop by again whenever I'm...
Read moreThe first question my friends asked me was: “How did you even find this place?” Not surprising, since the café is tucked away in a neighbourhood and you actually need to pass by a guard post to get in. A little troublesome, yes, but worth it for this quiet hidden gem.
We all enjoyed the food and drinks here, though the aircond was blasting way too strong.
Matcha foam: Smooth, velvety, and sweet. Better to finish it fresh though; once it sat for a while, the taste wasn’t quite the same.
Seafood aglio olio: Personally, I would’ve loved a stronger garlicky punch. They gave me plenty of garlic slices, but somehow the savoury intensity wasn’t there. What blew me away instead was the prawn. Unlike many cafés that serve frozen, crystal-clear prawns (aka flavourless rubber), these had umami, texture, and real flavour. Big plus point!
Would definitely come back...
