Brand new Omakase restaurant (3 days old at the time of this review, they also have a sister branch called Juugatsu Ten) in the vicinity of Bukit Jalil City - it’s a 2-min walk from the entrance of Pavilion Bukit Jalil. Tried the more ‘affordable’ tier called Shin.
Let’s start with the service - I’d give it 11/10 if I could. Never have I been in a restaurant that goes to this level of detail to the point of identifying that I was a left-hander and offered to swap the position of cups, utensils and the like! How about the change of tea mid-course just so it cleanses your palate and pairs better with the upcoming dishes? Done.
Food - incredibly fresh (the seafood was flown in the same day I dined), generous servings (I’ve not had so much top grade uni in one serving before), seasoning was just right - not overly sweet nor salty. It was wow wow wow all the way.
Ambiance - it’s a simple, elegant setup with a hint of understated luxury. One looooong chef counter table that stretches from the entrance to the end of the room. Easily occupies 15-20 pax.
Majority of the staff members speak fluent mandarin (was a bit of a challenge for me - I’m a typical ‘banana’), if you don’t speak the language - just imagine you’ve travelled to Taiwan or foreign land. 😆
The super friendly manager - Kerwin speaks English fluently though and the menu items are in English so you’ll be ok.
All in all, what a wow experience. Pricey, yes - as with all good Omakases but this one is totally worth it. Easily in my list of must visit Omakase...
Read moreRead through a few reviews regarding omakase around Klang valley and decided to pick Minami Omakase for Valentines dinner with my wife. Honestly speaking, this is our first ever omakase experience and we are looking forward to have a good one. We easily found a parking spot in the basement car park. Once we arrived at the restaurant’s door front, we were greeted and being lead to the dining table by a friendly waitress (Miss Mei). The ambience and decoration of the restaurant is very nice. There’s a corner in the restaurant which is being decorated as a zen garden with a giant Bonshō hanging inside. The chef are all local Chinese guys. They speak nicely when explaining what are being served to us, from appetizers to the last dessert. My wife is impressed and happy with the freshness of the sashimi especially the sea urchin (uni). While my favorite dish of the night will be the grilled halibut (hiname) sushi. The waiter did constantly serve us hot hojicha and change the warm towels (for wiping hands) quite frequently. The flow of the food serve is not rushy. Due to Valentine’s Day, they even gave every couple a bonus house-special dessert after the last dessert. The waiter and waitress is very friendly and did offered to help us take photo when we tried to do a wefie. Overall experience of tonight, and for our very first omakase here is AWESOME. We will definitely be back someday for another round...

We have a refreshing orange and lemon drink to stimulate the appetite before the meal starts proper.
We opted for the KIN Lunch Omakase which consists of appetisers, sashimi course , sushi course , cooked dish , soup and dessert .
The texture of the sushi rice served here was firmer . Chef Loong explained to us the rice grains were cooked with kelp water , marinated with red vinegar and mirin .
Favourite sushi was the torched engawa with uni which melts in the mouth .
Desserts include fresh persimmon , matcha mochi and matcha pudding
We were entertained by the hospitable team of Minami omakase and we looked forward to...
