My boyfriend and I have dined at this restaurant several times, and it has always been a great experience—until yesterday (15/11/2024). Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the service. We ordered two main courses, one appetizer, and one chawanmushi. However, after finishing all the food, my boyfriend’s main course still hadn't arrived. We asked the waiter, who told us it would be ready in two minutes. After some time, the waiter returned and asked us what we had ordered, which we confirmed from the menu. Only then did they inform us that my boyfriend’s main course had never actually been placed in the system.
By that point, it was nearly 9pm, and we decided to simply pay and leave. When we were at the cashier to settle the bill, another waitress approached, and we explained the situation. Her response was unprofessional and came across as sarcastic. She offered us a free cake as a gesture, but this felt completely inappropriate, given that my boyfriend hadn’t even received his proper meal.
To make matters worse, the owner was present but didn’t seem concerned enough to address the issue. After waiting so long, and with it already being late, offering a free dessert didn’t come close to resolving the problem. The sarcastic attitude and lack of genuine concern made the situation even worse. It was very disappointing, and I expected much better service and professionalism, especially considering our previous positive...
Read moreAtmosphere is good, but not sure why they decided to turn off the aircond while we're still dining. Then we kinda voice out say it's warm, only then they turn it back on.
Food delivery speed was horrible. I ordered a gyu don with 3 other friends, all their gyu don arrived and they finish eating, and mine came out almost 30 minutes after they finished theirs whilst we ordered around 5 minutes apart. Even the guy who ordered 10 minutes after me got his kurobuta first and finished eating before my gyu don is served.
For the gyu don, the price I feel it's not worth. Yes, there may be truffle oil for the taste, but the beef was tough, and thinner than the sad mcd beef burger. Almost rm40 for that bowl of sad rice. Definitely no second time for me.
The ikuradon is okay-ish but for the same price, I can get a better ikura don inside Pavilion with more ikura and salmon meat.
Overall, very bad experience. I got gastric attack after waiting a full hour for my sad gyu don, and have to see doctor for medication because the food arrived way too late.
Maybe two chef is not enough guys, hire more people please :(
Total spent 160 with tax Gyu don - horrible Ikura don - okay-ish but there's better option out there Negitoro special - meat is fresh but the rice need improvement One apple juice - good One green tea - green tea lo
Didn't take photo cuz gastric too pain , almost vomit because waited too...
Read moreSo…would I come back? Hmm… This is an award winning Japanese restaurant wor..
How’s the food? Well, there are choices and there are choices but can’t pinpoint which one we like. We ended up with Sashimi Sanbo RM40) as starters. As you can see in photo, I think they can do the presentation better, the plate doesn’t do justice to it. For comparison, we used to have Sashimi in Zen Shushi and ZS win hands down by size and freshness.
We had Foie Gras (RM49). Forget the price, the taste is really good!! This one I can vouch for it and have seconds!
Lastly we had Gyu Don (RM44), basically Japanese rice with Australian beef, onsen eggs and truffle oil. Taste wise, I expect better but can pass, truffle taste a bit weak.
So like that, service should be good? Yes, I agree their service is top notch, attentive and they have their eyes on your needs.
Lastly, what about the atmosphere? Can bring girlfriend mou? Well, can la, but it’s not like the fine dining type that needs to dress up nice nice but decent with bermudas and flip flops is acceptable. The setting is above average.
So back to the question, would I come back? Maybe if I wanna bring someone who has never been here before but there are really quite a number of restaurants around that can give them a run for their money so they need to buck...
