Hunan Cuisine has made its way into Pavilion Bukit Jalil!
Here at Nong Geng Ji, I highly recommend their Steamed Big Shrimp with Vermicelli with Garlic (蒜蓉粉丝蒸虾). This dish is served uncooked in a portable wok on a portable stove, and is left to cook for 7 minutes on your table, so that you can witness the raw, grey shrimps slowly turn red as it cooks. Once it is done, a waiting staff will be notified by an alarm, which will prompt them to prepare the dish for your consumption, and it is recommended to consume the before the hourglass runs out for the best taste; juicy, chewy shrimps, savory, smooth vermicelli noodles, seasoned with their specialty sauce.
In addition to that, I also recommend my personal favorite, the Pan-Seared Green Chilies with Century Egg (擂辣椒皮蛋). This dish can be pretty spicy to the weak, as green chilies are smashed thin using a pestle and mortar, alongside the eggplants and century egg. It pairs really well with white rice, as it adds a goopy, savory and viscous texture that is just so satisfying to my taste buds.
Food isn’t the most affordable here, although you do get a member’s price after you join their membership! On top of that, the membership also comes with perks, such as cash vouchers, which you can receive after topping up a certain balance with them.
When you enter the restaurant, be prepared to be greeted by their friendly and well-trained staff. Every staff is required to say a phrase to welcome every group of guests entering the premises, and they always give their best. Each member wears a smile, and it gives comfort that the staff enjoys working here, which feels that they care.
Onto the interior design, the atmosphere is very welcoming, thanks to the presence of the warm earthy tones from the wooden decorations and furniture. The space is well-air-conditioned, so it feels very comfortable to dine here.
All in all, I will visit again soon with my family as we really enjoy dining here. Do come earlier as the queue can go as long as an hour during weekend...

Everything was improved greatly.
Food is delicious Portions have all been adjusted Price is very matching to the portion and taste Dishes come out fast even when there is a long queue of orders
Only thing is that I would recommend a ticketing system instead of a queue, gives an option for those who hate crowded places to stand further back.

Some food portion are either too much while some are too little.
Less spicy was hotter than medium spicy.
Tastes like street food, delicious but really not worth the price. (3 dishes, 2 rice and 1 drink = Rm200 even after 15% discount)
Few times server just places the food at the corner of the table without talking.
15minutes after ordering do they only mention 1 of the food is “cannot be done”, no other reason given. Just said “cannot be done” which I find very amusing since the dishes that were unavailable were all on their “signature dishes”.
Cancelled order and new order were not communicated between staffs which ended up the new order was not being done until someone in charge came and informed us the food was not available again and we had to mention someone came earlier and told us that and we have already placed a new order.
Only like half of the staffs are competent and provide good service.
Too many shouting at tables. None of the other restaurants have this problems. First time having such a problem where people from multiple tables were genuinely shouting instead of talking like decent human beings.
Really want to like the food as it is good, but, definitely wont be back here again if it...
Read moreI’d like to share my recent unpleasant experience here. While the overall food and ambiance were quite decent, and the staff serving the food were polite and attentive, my dining experience was let down by the handling of a simple request.
I visited around 8:30pm on a weekday with my family of four, including a baby in a stroller. The interior seating on the right side was quite cramped, and I was genuinely concerned about the safety and comfort of dining there with hot soup, pots being served and baby in my stroller. As my baby stroller has only little space to be put and even obstruct the neighbour table in and out.
I politely asked if we could move to a larger table with more space. The waitress was understanding and tried to help, and i appreciate for her help. However, after checking with the store manager, she informed me that we couldn't move because the larger tables were meant for 6 pax — even though both of the round 6-seater tables were empty at the time and until we finished dining.
I do understand that restaurants have policies to follow, and I respect that. But considering it was nearing 9pm on a quiet weekday night, and our request was made purely out of concern for safety of a baby, I had hoped for a little more empathy and flexibility from the store manager. Sometimes, a small gesture of understanding can go a long way in leaving a...
