Mydin — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

The former boss of the place appeared to have passed away more than a year ago. He was always smiling, affable, and incredibly courteous, taking the trouble to remember your usual order every time u visit. He also kept the restaurant shipshape. Unfortunately the restaurant looks rather dingy and rundown now under a new boss. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The contrast was remarkable and obvious. The roti was still good. But the nasi campur dishes didn't look very inviting. Previously they were neatly displayed and were rather tasty. I had quite a shock stepping into the place after about two years, having noticed how much things had declined post-pandemic. This place was a Bangsar Utama institution, and I can only hope it thrives in future under a new management, but obviously some effort is required to make this...

Restoran Mydin is my personal favourite nasi kandar place. It was one of the places that made in fall in love with Malaysian food - a love affair that's still going strong.

Mydin makes my favourite rendang in town - nutty, flavourful, thick and tender. It also makes a mean roti spesial and nasi goreng. Pound for pound, it punches above its weight.

All the staff is always friendly. The big boss always welcome you with a big smile and thank you after you paid your meal. Great place to have breakfast. The drinks are always too sweet for my liking if you order it normal without specifying less sugar to the staff. Although it is always crowded in the morning, food always come within 5 minutes. Soft boiled eggs are somewhat inconsistent. Sometimes it's too raw or overcooked. Overall, if you're craving for some Malaysian breakfast, you wouldn't be disappointed if...
