We came here for lunch on a weekday — a group of four, with everything nicely pre-arranged by the manager (thanks to a friend who knows them well). Our table was set up upstairs in a private area, away from the lunch crowd. The space felt relaxed, perfect for a longer lunch and conversation.
The meal itself was the real highlight. The restaurant prepared a special platter for us — a generous serving of briyani rice layered with tender lamb shank, giant prawns, fried chicken, boiled eggs, and dalcha gravy, all surrounded by sides like sambal, acar, and curry. Every bite was rich with spice and flavour, with the lamb standing out — soft, aromatic, and perfectly cooked. The prawns were crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The rice carried that authentic nasi kandar fragrance, and the sambal brought everything together with just the right heat.
Service was warm and attentive. The staff checked in regularly, made sure the dishes stayed hot, and even shared small recommendations on how to mix the sauces for better flavour. You can sense the kitchen takes pride in the food.
On the ground floor, there’s a wide display of nasi kandar dishes — from squid curry and ayam ros to stir-fried vegetables, sambal telur, and seafood options. The spread looks clean and colourful, a proper Penang-inspired showcase.
That said, cleanliness could use some improvement, especially around the stairway and general layout downstairs. The dining area upstairs, however, was comfortable and better maintained.
Overall, it’s a great spot for authentic nasi kandar in KL, with rich, satisfying flavours that feel homemade yet refined. Perfect for group dining or business lunches if you want to impress guests with hearty...

If you're craving authentic, flavorful Nasi Kandar in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Nasi Kandar Line Clear Kampong Baru is a must-visit! Located in the vibrant Kg Baru area, this spot delivers a delicious and satisfying meal that stands out among the city's best.
The rice is perfectly fluffy, and the variety of curries and side dishes are rich, aromatic, and packed with bold spices. The fried chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy inside, while the squid and lamb/beef curry are absolute highlights. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable for the quality you get.
While it may not surpass the legendary Hameedyah in Penang, it’s definitely better than Nasi Kandar Basikal—more balanced in flavor and consistency. The service is quick, and the no-frills, bustling atmosphere adds to the authentic Nasi Kandar experience.
A solid 7/10—recommended for locals and tourists alike! Don’t miss out on this gem in KL’s city center. #Nasikandar #LineClearKgBaru...
