Dropped by Adam Tomyam Seafood for a late dinner and decided to give it a try since the restaurant looked much clearer and calmer compared to the busy one next to it.
At the first glance, the menu was quite typical as other Thai restaurants. However, what stood out to me, was that all the staff were speaking Thai with each other, which gave me the impression that this is an authentic Thai restaurant, raising my expectations a little.
Went with nasi goreng biasa, requested it to be spicy, along with telur dadar and sup daging. Initially wanted to try the sup perut, but unfortunately it was already sold out by the time we came.
The nasi goreng was quite a letdown. Despite asking for it to be spicy, it came with no spiciness at all, no chilli, no heat, nothing. The flavour was just average, it was okay and tasty but prefer it to be spicy. While the telur dadar was fine to eat, it was small in size and tasted very ordinary. Nothing about it stood out.
The sup daging was the biggest miss. The broth was extremely tangy, with a strong lime flavour that completely overpowered the soup, all I could taste was sourness. To make it worse, the beef itself was tough, dry, and really hard to chew, which made everything quite unpleasant, couldn’t even fisnish it.
While it kinda having the feel of an authentic Thai restaurant with some actual Thai staff running the place, the food ordered didn’t live up to that expectation. The dishes we tried were either too plain or overpowered by one flavour, and the textures, especially of the meat. The whole experience wasn’t...
Read moreWhen we arrived here for dinner, there were hardly any customers unlike its next door neighbour. But don't let that deter you from trying out at this restaurant. In a way, with not that many customers it was good for us because we were being attended swiftly and we got our orders in no time. The place was clean, with nice decor. As for the food, it was decent. Price is considerably cheap compared to other Tomyam eateries. The mango sticky rice (pulut mangga) is an excellent appetizer to start with. Tomyam soup is tasty although a bit spicy to my liking, and the belacan fried rice is rather different (in a good way) from the typical belacan fried rice. Overall we had a nice...
