I recently had the pleasure of dining at Nikugaiya, and I can confidently say it was the best service I’ve ever experienced. From the moment I stepped into the restaurant, I was welcomed with a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a remarkable dining experience.
The level of professionalism displayed by the staff was exceptional. My server, who made sure to introduce themselves by name, was attentive and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. They took the time to ask me about my preferences and guided me through the various options with thoughtful recommendations. I truly felt as though they were genuinely invested in making my dining experience perfect.
What truly set Nikugaiya apart was the balance of attentive service and personal touch. The team was always there when needed refilling drinks, ensuring everything was to my liking but never intrusive. They maintained a perfect equilibrium, ensuring I was fully taken care of without interrupting the flow of the evening. After a leisurely exploration, Mr. Peter guided us to a private dining room. I must give credit to Mr. Peter for being an exceptional host throughout our dinner experience. His attention to detail, from presenting the dishes to grilling the Wagyu beef right at our table, and explaining the nuances of the Wagyu's taste and texture, was truly commendable.
I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a fine dining experience in a traditional Japanese setting. We opted for the RM688 package for two, and the portions were more than sufficient to leave us fully satisfied. The meal began with impeccably fresh starters, especially the salad featuring white corn. The grapes that followed were a delightful burst of freshness, crunchiness, and sweetness. The Sashimi was served at its freshest, a true delight.
But the highlight was undoubtedly the Wagyu beef. Mr. Peter's patient and expert guidance in grilling the Wagyu was a culinary journey in itself. The subsequent servings of oxtail soup and the Wagyu, Foie gras, and Salmon Roes fried rice were nothing short of spectacular – the fried rice, in particular, was a culinary masterpiece!
To conclude the extraordinary feast, we savored a wasabi ice cream that is an absolute must-try. This unique creation allows you to truly appreciate the authentic texture and flavor of natural wasabi. It's no exaggeration – this wasabi ice cream is a game-changer.

Unfortunately, I have to give this visit a 1-star rating. Instead of enjoying wagyu under a starry night, we were subjected to intense UV sunlight. I strongly recommend avoiding the 5:30-7:30 PM dining session at all costs.
Issues:
Sunlight Exposure: The hot sun was unbearable, torching both the wagyu and our seats. Despite calling the staff, they informed us that nothing could be done as all tables were occupied. There was no initiative to provide any assistance.
Attempted Solution: I hung my coat at the window to block some sunlight, which helped a bit. Staff member Peter tried to help by using a black cloth to block the sunlight, but unfortunately, he couldn't hang it properly. Thank you, Peter, for your effort.
Management Awareness: It seems that no staff member highlighted this issue to the management. The room design leads to severe sunlight exposure, especially considering that the KL sunset time is around 7 PM. This meant that 75% of our dining session was uncomfortable, leaving us with no mood to enjoy the wagyu.
Food:
The food itself was good and met the standard expectations for wagyu. Staff member Hein served us and explained each part of the wagyu accordingly. However, due to the uncomfortable dining conditions, we couldn’t fully appreciate the meal. Conclusion:
