Was here for my mom’s birthday dinner as she was attracted the maritime ship decor that was promoted in social media. Food was decent overall but it’s the minimum baseline for such a pricey chinese restaurant that serves live seafood in general. Portion sizes for it’s non seafood dishes like the stir fry vegetables and chicken was average at best. But what put us off the most and practically ruined the mood for our evening that visit was the service and staffing of this restaurant.

I understand that at the time of visit (7th April 2024) the restaurant was still at soft launch and running a trial menu. However considering the expensive and “atas” environment price point, I would very least expect well thought out service from the staff. Our dishes arrived in acceptable preparation times except for the steamed fish which took an hour and 10 minutes. We asked for updates on the progress of our missing fish dish as it’s just steamed variant and nothing fancy, the staff was giving false timing promises repeatedly and did not admit to having our fish dish skipped away from their invoice as it was clearly the situation. Two tables next to us that dine in 30 mins later than us had their lobster sashimi and the same exact fish prepared the same way served 20 mins earlier than us. Please improve your overall service of staffing and its unacceptable to give reasonings of you are understaffed and you cannot do anything about it. After we complained about the missing fish after an hour of waiting time while we were left hanging with cold rice and cold leftover dishes as we were waiting for the fish to come; the staff seemed afraid to serve us anymore and avoided our table and replenishing our tea pot. They took the teapot for refill and after 15 minutes the teapot did not even come back; our request to bring out our birthday cake that we brought was also not fulfilled after 20 mins of requesting and waiting as well. We ended up finishing up the one hour and 15 mins fish and just paid and left with again repeated calls of bringing out our cake only done when we paid for the bill and still needed to wait for them to bring our cake out. Totally not acceptable for this price point of a restaurant for chinese cuisine. Live seafood preparation is not an excuse you give for slow service when your main selling point of cuisine is exactly that. The irony is that the fish was not even descaled fully cleaned as the underbelly of the fish had spots of fine scales uncleaned and still attached, when the belly area of this kind of fish is the fattiest and tastiest part.

The same fish of the same weight steamed is practically sold at 40-50% less (not including service tax and SST) at a lot of other chinese restaurants. Very disappointing...

Lesson-1: I should have checked the reviews here before dined at this place. 300% regret! Lesson-2: It was an ad-hoc decision to give this place a try from a friend suggestion that based on an IG post. Remember, don't be fooled by the decor shared in social media. Only the decor in the toilet gives you... Wow... Then wonder why spent so much to the decorate the toilet but not the main dining area. Lesson-3: Though this restaurant is owned by a renowned Chinese restaurant 海外天, it doesn't mean the quality of food and services are on the same par. We waited long for the first 4 dishes, finished them and the table is cleared, then waited another 45min for the last dish - steam fish! Do you still feel like eating?! All other dishes are really small in serving for the price they charged. This place is a highly overpriced! Taste is below average. Service is slow and bad, we requested chilies and garlic since we place orders and followed up with a few reminders, they only served it at 4th dish. They are terribly under staffed. To the owner, if you are not ready, why bother to do business to spoil your reputation? The manager told us they opened since CNY, so no excuse that you are newly opened and need time to fine tuned!

Please don't waste your time and money to give this place a try. I wish I can select no...

Overall the ambience is nice, came here with my family group of 8. it is an upscale restaurant with exorbitant price which we kinda expected before visiting the restaurant hence we have high expectation of the food. Here’s what we ordered: half dozen Canadian oysters $154.8: they were plump & fresh Indonesian mud crab XXL $447: tbh I’ve tried much meatier Indonesian mud crab with similar price tag. Ordered 2 crabs with 2 flavour- chillies & salted egg. Both are ok white sand clam $61.2: one of my favourite, the clams are very fresh and the soup taste really good black truffle fried rice $52: this was the star of the night. Everyone loves it Boston lobster noodle $364.7: i was so looking forward to this but man the noodle was so soggy! Didn’t expect an upscale Chinese restaurant to fail this. Few of my family members only had one mouthful spinach with crab meat & egg in clay pot $43: this is nice

The bill came up to about $1,600, what I wasn’t expecting was the price for the chrysanthemum tea, it is $64 for 8 people! I’ve never had such expensive tea in a Chinese restaurant even at other similar upscale Chinese restaurants!

Will not come back again. There are better ones with...

A Grand Seafood Experience at Oversea Seafood KL Oversea Seafood KL is a stunning new seafood restaurant that will leave you amazed. The grand entrance with its live seafood aquarium and large LED screen creates a truly immersive dining experience. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff. The food arrived quickly, and the portions were generous. Every dish we ordered was delicious, from the fresh seafood to the cooked dishes. While the prices may be on the higher side, the overall experience is worth every penny. I was particularly impressed by the restaurant's commitment to halal standards. The food is pork-free and lard-free, making it a suitable dining option for Muslim customers. If you're looking for a special occasion or simply a memorable dining experience, Oversea Seafood KL is the perfect choice.
