So my friend told me about this trendy eatery joints at TRX. That few times we passed by, it's crazy jam packed but this week we decided to give it a try, joining in the queue at around 6-ish in the evening. The menu are like leaflets available at the entrance on a stand. Just grab one as you wait in the queue, giving you ample of time to choose what you like to have. The design of the shop gives the vibe of an ordinary eatery in Japan. It's not entirely spacious. The crew was warm, friendly and accommodating to all questions asked. We ordered: One set double patty of chicken and Angus beef with truffle sauce One set double patty of Angus beef with black sauce. Wagyu meat skewer (They were out of drinks that day so they allow us to get out drinks from outside.) The combo set comes with a bowl of rice, miso soup and one pasteurised egg. The rice, miso, vegetables are bottomless but we only top up vegetables and one bowl of rice since we ordered double patties. The servicing crew serves and guides you what to do as they serve you with the intention that you will enjoy the meal. The person-in-charge was very friendly and we had a good chat while he supervised all that was happening. The person who grilled our meat was always with a smile and serves our plate very well. The price maybe a little high for the size of the patty but it's TRX, so that was expected. Overall our experience was great. Despite the queue, the crew tries to sit everyone accordingly. Keep up the good service and keep improving!

After a 40 minute queue during a Sunday dinner time peak period, we were seated. The maximum capacity is 30 diners and with understaffing the turnover can be a tad slow. Some diners do take their own sweet time not only eating but taking pictures of every aspect of the meal which compounds the waiting time. We ordered the classic Angus burgers combos with cheese topping and black sauce. Food arrived swiftly with the vegetables and rice followed by the miso soup and finally the burgers. The veges and burgers are slightly undercooked so some extra time on the heated skillet is recommended - that’s also an opportunity to season the food according to your taste (there are five different condiments available) Taste: Somewhat normal. The burgers would be better if they were chargrilled. The smokiness would make it more appetising. The Angus was coarse ground so there’s sinew in some bites. Improvement definitely has to be made to the miso soup. It tasted watery and flavourless. Have to acknowledge that their cheese topping was super generous. Service: Some earlier reviews complained harshly. But we found our service team to be most polite and accommodating in spite of the crowd and understaffing challenges. They were quick to replenish our veges and soup. Price: Quite reasonable for the quality and set up. The combo meal with unlimited rice, veges and soup fills you up quickly and with great satisfaction. Environment: Fun music soundtrack. AC or ventilation has to be improved.

overhyped and overrated. First of all, we noticed the sour wet cloth smell upon being seated. I thought it was just the floor cleaning tools but then my partner noticed the same smell on the sauce bottles too. Disgusting smell to be eating around the entire time. The rice, soup and other dishes we ordered while queueing were already there as we were seated, which was fine but since the patty took a while the rice and soup became cold. The miso soup, had almost zero taste of miso. It was literally boiled mushroom water at best. I then noticed the server who put the vegetables on our hot plate were also the same person cleaning up the tables and WITH THE SAME COOKING GLOVE THREW TRASH INTO THE BIN AND PRESSED IT DOWN. Golden! Just what I needed to see before I ate. Nobody informed us how the food would be served, where the chopsticks were etc so we cut into the uncooked patty since it took forever and another server only halfway through came with scissors to cut the patties into smaller chunks.my hotplate was too hot so my patty overcooked while my partner’s hotplate barely cooked his patty until we had to call someone else to crank it up. Btw there’s little to no difference in taste between the angus and wagyu and it’s similar to the ones u get at supermarkets like Ben’s. Having FOC in house tea could’ve helped a little but of course everything has a price here. In short, we paid RM140 for a meal that’s not worth the price at all. Not a fan of any of the sauces on the table but maybe that’s just my tastebuds. They were underwhelming with no “depth” nor was any of them special. Wouldn’t come again.

This restaurant is highly overrated. After seeing the glowing reviews, I had high expectations, but the experience was a complete letdown. The service was appallingly slow and disorganized. Despite a long queue, the staff didn’t seem prepared to handle the crowd. We waited an unreasonable amount of time for our food, especially the chicken, which was served long after everything else. To make matters worse, there was a serious safety hazard during our visit. Oil splattered from one of the plates, and none of the staff were around to assist or even acknowledge the incident. It was alarming to see how unprepared they were to handle an emergency situation like this. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. The flavors were plain and uninspired, far from what you’d expect based on the hype. Considering the long wait and the price, the food was simply not worth it. Overall, the restaurant is all show with no substance. The high ratings on Google are misleading, as the actual experience falls far short. Poor service, unsafe practices, and average food quality make this a place I would never return to. If you’re looking for good food and reliable service, save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere. This place might have the reputation, but it doesn’t live up to the hype. Definitely not worth the time, money, or effort.

I was skeptical at first, thinking it was just a beef patty that might taste like a regular burger patty, served with rice and some sauce. But after taking my first bite—damn! How could something that looks so simple have such a beautiful depth of flavor? The hamburg itself is juicy and packed with umami, while the truffle sauce was a complete surprise. I usually hate the aftertaste and smell of truffle, but I ordered it anyway just to prove my point that it wouldn’t be as good as people say. Turns out, I was completely wrong—it was insanely good! The truffle taste isn’t overpowering at all, and the creamy texture is just right. It’s somewhat like carbonara, but not too dense. The saltiness is mild, but you can always adjust the sauce to your liking. For me, the sauce itself is already perfect when paired with rice, miso soup, and egg yolk. Writing this review now is just making me drool, thinking about how good it was! If you have the same doubts I did before coming here, please give it a shot. You won’t regret it—it’s an experience I definitely want to have again. (Minus the queuing at the TRX outlet, haha.) Service was excellent, with unlimited refills of rice, miso soup, and grilled veggies. The portion may look small, but be careful, my dear—you’ll definitely end up tersandar after that meal, haha!

I cannot express how utterly disappointed I am with my dining experience at Donkai TRX Malaysia. What promised to be a premium dining experience turned into one of my biggest restaurant letdowns in recent memory. Having dined at Kiwamiya in Tokyo, which has a similar vibe and concept, the gulf in quality is shocking. While Kiwamiya served wagyu that truly exemplified the excellence of Japanese beef, Donkai's offering is nothing short of an embarrassment in comparison. Let's talk about their so-called "wagyu" Hamburg. It's almost insulting to real wagyu beef to call this Japanese Wagyu Beef. The patty was so tasteless and dry. Where was the melt-in-your-mouth texture? Where was the rich, buttery flavor that wagyu is celebrated for? Nowhere to be found. But the real shocker came with the vegetables. I honestly couldn't believe they had the audacity to serve produce that was clearly past its prime. The vegetables had that unmistakable rotten smell that made me lose my appetite immediately. The fact that they would serve such subpar ingredients to paying customers is absolutely unacceptable. How does this even pass basic kitchen quality control? Verdict: Stay away at all costs. Don't waste your hard-earned money here. This has to be one of the most overrated restaurants I've visited in KL.
