Went there at 7pm on a Tuesday where there were only 3 tables occupied (1 drinking only, us and another table that arrived 10 minutes later) but service was poor. Could not get a refill for green tea as there were no waitress around or unless they don't allow refills for green tea. (2 waitresses delivered some food elsewhere for a while and apparently there was 1 more behind the cashier as we were going out to pay but didn't bother to check around).
Aside from that, the waitresses give you a blank look as you go into the restaurant, when they put the QR code on your table for ordering and when they put the food on your table with zero welcome or minimal interaction at all. Strangely enough, they were talking animatedly among themselves though. Probably just not interested in basic customer service to customers.
Ambiance was ok and parking was easy. Both of us had the dry mazesoba and would rate it 3.5 out of 5. I believe the portion is lesser than Menya Hanabi but the price is slightly cheaper to commensurate. But service at Menya Hanabi is way better. Will still return to try the soup version and hopefully they improve on their service. Forgot to take picture of the food.
Edit: Returned on 15 March and sat outside as indoor was full. Ordered the Aka dry Mazesoba and the Aka Soup Ramen. The soup Ramen can be improved, something is lacking but I can't pinpoint. The Mentai Tamago was ok.
Service improved tremendously from previous visit. The waiter was friendly, proactive in refilling green tea and would give him 5/5. Therefore, changing review rating to 4/5 for the improvement.
Suggestion: I think the current beer selection is quite limited to Kirin but the price is on the high side. Might be worth considering introducing cheaper beers like Tiger or Asahi at a lower price range, around RM14-18 such as other ramen japanese restaurants and price Kirin at around RM20-24 (I think it's RM30 or so at your restaurant, apologies if I remember incorrectly). That way, customers who are 50:50 between your ramen restaurant and others, would more likely pick yours...
Read moreHere’s my take of the new shop in Taman Desa. The interior is tastefully done in a modern and Minimalist architecture, not too many seats inside but there are also seating along the corridor outside. Most tables cater to max 4 people with one long table for party of six.
The choices are for a few selections with different broths, both spicy and non spicy and with choice of dry mee if that’s more your thing. We had three of their selection, shiro (creamy pork broth) chashu, ouabain signature abure ramen), and kuro (black garlic) yakibuta. There were also quite a selection of sides including tamago, edamame, gyoza and the nanban karage we had.
The food quality and taste was excellent to me, satisfying ramen meal, the fillings could do with more generous portions but you can opt to add more to your order with extra cost if need. The karage was oily and nice, comfort food at its best.
The only thing I need to comment for improvement is the service, their workers generally don’t communicate too well especially English or Malay, luckily orders are via qr menu. Our order generally came timely and quick but they missed an order and when we informed it came after most of the other patrons had theirs, and we had to wait an extra 20 min while our kid was without her meal, while the rest of us finished already. Asking for kids set and other request also could be better as I believe the communication aspect of it plays a part in this. I don’t like to give bad review but this certainly needs to be improved if they want to sustain customers.
I would definitely recommend this but I don’t think I would be back soon until they sort all these issues. It could be unique to us, others seem to have dined without issue but, this needs to...
Read moreHeard a lot about this place and decided to check it out with my friends. Visited on a weekday evening for dinner the area was quite desolated. There was just 1 table of customers when we visited the place and the staff were just standing at the cashier area. Passed us the menu and had to scan the QR code to order the food. My friends said the ramen is nice but I was here more for the mazesoba. Ended up we ordered 2 ramen and a mazesoba with a few sides. I found the mazesoba not too bad and my friends loved the soup of the ramen. The portion was rather big as well we struggled to finish the noodles and the sides. I liked the Tamago mentai I thought it was the best sides in the meal. The sweet corn tempura was not bad but wasn't my kind of food as I am not a corn fan, and the disappointment was probably the buta katsu. It looked so crispy the moment it was served but it was kinda cold and then the pork tasted so hard to chew. We couldn't even finish half of it. The gyoza was not bad but didn't like the idea of a mala dip. The meat inside was quite tender. Throughout the meal only like 2 additional tables were occupied it was a really quiet night. Maybe it's more crowded on weekends and so would recommend to visit on weekdays if you want to try. Food was on the average side with hits and misses. For ordering so much food I thought the bill was quite reasonable. Worth giving a try but not sure if I...
