The Secret Foodsmith - Nyonya Restaurant (By Appointment Only Dining and Delivery) — Restaurant in Kuala Lumpur

I was travelling up to KL and arriving late in the afternoon. I didn't want to have to go out looking for food and get caught up in rush hour traffic. I heard about The Secret Foodsmith and their nasi ulam. I wanted to try something different for a change and WhatsApp-ed them and asked if they could have the food delivered to my hotel. Florence at Foodsmith was very accommodating even though they normally only take orders for lunch. She explained that the nasi ulam was best served fresh because of the herbs in the rice. So, on this occasion, she would have to refrigerate it and I would need to reheat it in a microwave. The delivery to my hotel was smooth and I got the hotel to microwave the food when it arrived.

I ordered the nasi ulam with ayam percik set meal. When I got to my room and opened the box of nasi ulam, the fragrance of the rice hit me immediately. It smelt and looked so good!!! The percik sauce is served separately and I poured it over the grilled chicken. On hindsight, I should have poured the sauce over the chicken before reheating the chicken. In any case, I loved the ayam percik. The sauce was simply delicious and I wished that there was more of it. The chicken was also juicy and tender.

Overall, I LOVED the food, Florence @ Foodsmith was lovely and very accommodating, the delivery was fast and efficient. I couldn't have asked for more.....well, maybe a little more of the...

A feast for the belly and the eyes! The process to order was an absolute delight and a breeze, even though I’m based overseas and was ordering a surprise luncheon for my mum’s birthday. Florence, a big thank you for accommodating all requests so pleasantly and being an absolute professional throughout.

Mum thoroughly enjoyed your highly sought-after Nasi Ulam + all the sides and Acar. She’s usually not easy to please so hearing her say it was “wow wow super delicious” and “beautiful, so biggg and generously-sized” was undoubtedly heartwarming, to say the least. Not to mention the presentation took it to a whole new level as a gift, love the option to have the platter batik-wrapped and the food inside tastefully laid out. Thank you for also kindly including a birthday note in it!

I’m glad I didn’t waste money on another bouquet of flowers, your made-to-order homemade deliciousness is on a whole other level of a gift from the heart. ❤️

Highly reccomend Florence & her Nasi Kerabu! Decided to order for a CNY party I hosted for 15 pax, as everyone was bored with Chinese & she deffo did not dissapoint! Everything was flavourful & on point in terms of flavour - from the condiments, protein (ordered the chicken & cencaru fish) & sauces. All our guests complimented the food & went for 2nd helpings! She also provides dulangs that comes with banana leaves for presentation/plating purposes - great for parties! Everything also came well packed, delivered during noon time which made reheating easy for the evening party. Her IG profile gave good photo references which made plating easy too for me! ❤😊
