A Mixed Bag of Experiences
Stumbling upon this cafe through Facebook ads, however, my visit revealed a series of misses.
Ambiance: 2/5 Service: 1/5 Food and drinks: 2/5 Parking convenience: 1/5 Waiting time: Expect 30 minutes to an hour for your order. Oddly, drinks took longer than main courses. Value for Money: 2/5
The cafe is surrounded by plants, which successfully creates a refreshing, natural atmosphere that's perfect for those seeking a green escape. However, this comes with insects and bugs which makes it not friendly to kiddo. Also, you have to eat your food fast, else you don’t know if flies will enjoy it before you

April 2025 👍👍👍
Dec 2024 I am writing an updated review because Jiak & Sip released a new menu. This time I ordered the fish soup noodle from the new menu. I really liked it very much especially with the special sauce (don’t forget to ask for the yummy sauce). Then had Mee Siam and ordered fried chicken to top it up. Still enjoyed the ice coffee. Loved the cempedak cake. I was quite sad I didn’t get to eat my baba laksa - ran out. It’s a bit warm at lunch time as I sat outdoors. Better in the morning.
End 2023 I will go back for sure to try more of their offerings. I only had the opportunity to try the Hainanese toast and I’m hooked. The cafe uses proper Hainanese bread which is light and crispy once toasted, real NZ butter and not so sweet kaya which is the way I like it. I am pretty fussy because I am Hainanese and get offended when people serve so called Hainanese toast using normal bread, margarine and sweet (with no hint of egg) kaya. The drinks are good too. Kaw and not crazy sweet. The cafe is in a one storey corner house, decorated to give the traditional look, so it’s relaxing and a great place to catch up. Can be a bit warm during a dry spell. I suggest blending in by turning up in shorts and singlet (T shirt).
Went back a week later to try more of its menu. Tried the laksa (very good), Mee Siam (good), Nasi lemak (good). The Nasi lemak is different from other places as the sambal has dried prawns and belacan which I like too. Of course we had the Hainanese jays toast...
Read moreFound this place from xhs. We ordered Baba Nyonya laksa, bihun siam, half boiled egg, roti bakar curry ayam and Hainam cham ping. The best of all is the hainam cham ping, it’s really kaw. The ambience is also nice, hidden and renovated from old rustic house. Weather was nice too. However, worse of it is its roti bakar curry ayam (RM 12.90), think it’s the worse I had. Curry very watery, I can cook with one eye close and it’s still better than this. Chicken taste bland… potatoes small piece very little. Baba laksa (RM 15.90) taste ok but they very stingy with ingredient. 3x cheap frozen fish ball, 5x tiny bit finely chopped chicken piece and 2x fuchok and beancurd puff. Bihun siam also (RM 8.90) very little ingredient… just bihun and eggs. That’s it. Service slow also… and you’re suppose to take cutleries yourself (won’t tell you you realised when the food served with no cutleries that’s when you know and make a way to counter and look for it). In summary, won’t come back la. Malaysia we got so so many options. Hope they can improve...
